BUSINESS The business department teaches their students skills which they use in everyday life, besides teaching the abilities needed in a business occupation Every student needs to produce many typed papers and reports throughout high school and college Beginning. intermediate, and advanced typing classes provide the necessary skills. Bookkeeping classes not only teach students professional bookkeeping, but also help them to manage their own money more effectively The business teachers work hard this year to make their courses interesting and useful to everyone. INDUSTRIAL ARTS To prepare students for careers, drafting courses acquaint them with the problems they will face when preparing a complete set of house plans. Building construction classes teach boys how to use tools and materials safely and accurately. Designed to help students develop skills required to enter the automotive industry, the auto classes also teach students how to fix their own cars. Advanced art students choose four minicourses from among a list of fifteen. These classes include woodcut, sculpturing, jewelry, ceramics, and lettering. For beginners, a basic drawing class teaches drawing, design. and painting. DECA Distributive education prepares students to get good jobs. Students take this class either because they want to work or because they want to learn more about working in the field of marketing. Some of the students learn skills in the classroom and then receive additional credit by applying their abilities on a job downtown. A secret system designed to prevent the theft of books solves the mystery of the disappearing media. To get students ready for college, the IMC adds history, science, and technology encyclopedias to the reference books. They also acquire new cassette listening equipment. A lot of hard work makes the IMC a great place to learn. RESOURCE ROOM Mr. Eliot Brunson Photography Students needing extra help in English, history, math, or science attend the resource room for the subjects they need special work in They go into the other classrooms for most of their classes. PHOTOGRAPHY How can you take a candid1' picture when people either hide their faces, act silly, or display their biggest grins whenever they see an aimed camera? This year the physical education department claims that people never outgrow the need for sports. No matter what your age. you can still participate in a wide variety of sports. This year they place emphasis on such activities as archery, bowling, tennis, golf and badminton The students gain enough skill and knowledge of these games to enjoy them in their later lives. This program gives the participants more of a purpose for learning, because they can always use these sports. Logan High's lifetime sports program contributes to the growth and happiness of the students by helping them to fill their spare time with fun activities. Stockton Military Science HOME ECONOMICS Only girls take homemaking Right? Wrong! This year the home economics department offers a boys' homemaking class The boys taking bachelor arts learn how to use and repair a sewing machine, and acquire skills used in preparing indoor and outdoor meals. Girls taking child care hold a nursery school at the Woodruff Elementary School. The homeliving classes enjoy many guest speakers, and panels on dating and parents. Basic and advanced foods classes cook manydeliciousgoodies. including foreign meals. Sewing classes make tailored garments for the Make it with Wool' contest. MILITARY SCIENCE Do you ever see creatures marching around the school in green suits? No. they haven't just flown in from Mars. They come from Logan High's ROTC department. ROTC guys get to march around on the football field before the games to post the colors. They also sponsor some of our fine assemblies. In their classes, they find out more about the army.
