As a result we had thc most functional cafeteria in the state. ..it was used for gym classes during the day: then at noon tables were dropped from the wall and it took the form of a modern cafe- BOOKSTORE The biggest part of our school supplies fand snacksy was purchased on the :nain Floor in our thriving little bookstore. This miniature store not only gave experience to those students who worked behind its counters, but provedto be a valuable con- venience to the hungry students of Logan High teria. N FOODS LABORATORY This year those students taking foods classes were pleasantly surprised to find an entirely new and modern laboratory in which to work. Each of the four well- planned kitchen units contains a modern cooking range, a brand new set of con- venient paneled cupboards, a sink, and dlnette set. CHEMIST RY LABORATORY Chemistry students at Logan l-ligh took great pride in their modern, up-to-the- minute classroom and laboratory, We felt very fortunate to be provided with such practical facilities for our use in develop- ing our scientific skills. Gunter as adviser was always up to something. They made posters for all the school activities. Also, they sponsored the Christmas Dance and they are still untangling themselves from the crepe paper and tape of that dance fsee the picturej. At Christmas time they covered the halls with bellsg at Halloween, with ghosts and pumpkins, and at Thanksgiving, with turkeys. IKEIJ C5955 1- ':'9 BET CILIJE Norris Mays directed the work of the art club as its president. Crog-club really served. Led by Miss Morrell, Leita Peterson, and George Skidmore, they conducted the most successful Red Cross drive in the history of the school, the entire studentbody was enrolled. Our club served the commun- ity as well as the school through work with the bloodmobile, and visits to the old folks home. And as a strong tie toward world unity, the club made an international exchange album and sent it to some school abroad: and they con- ducted a very successful clothing drive for children in Southern Rhodesia. 62 Leita Peterson and George Skidmore served as co-chairmen of the Red Cross club. George was also adelegate to the N ational Convention in San Francisco. Thanks to his untiring, efforts, Logan High School had one ofthe finest bands in the state this year as well as a topnotch orches- tra. We salute you, Mr. Torbenson, for your friendly attitude, your wonderful record, and your long hours of service to the school. EIISIJ Susan Hull and Cheryl Blackburn twirled with the band in the parades, and Bonny Pyle retained the position of drum inajorette for the third year in a row. H' 1' l -no l E rx, The Logan High School orchestra under the direction of Mr. Torbensen got up bravely two mornings a week and pushed their way through the snow drifts to make it to an eight o'c1ock rehearsal. The members of the orchestra will never forget the sour glances and the looks ofdesperation that Mr. Torbensen wore each morning as they came dragging in late. But all this paid off with their magnificent performance in the school's two musical productions, Down in the Valley and Ok1ahoma. Mr. Tueller, vocal music teacher at thc high school, directed the Chantaires through a very successful year. CIKCI-IESCPEH CIIIHKTHIRES The Chantaires were a credit to the school and the community this year. The chorus consisted of sixty select voices picked by tryouts early in the fall. They sang at civic clubs and social functions throughout the valley, and staged a short musical production Down in the Valley at the Capitol Theater. Being newly organized this year, the Chantaires conducted a drive for funds to buy robes which included cake sales and the sale of theater discount cards. 65 CJCJBKBKEIRCIIKIA TEIKINIS v-4.4 F 1 5 37-ab X X22 gf!! 3 The Bookkeeprn Team won honor for Logan Hrgh The Fmt and Second at the Rcglon 1COlT1mtr Year Shorthand Teams ual Mem also competed at USU 1n the Regron Meet 1?
