Student Council... Does It Again This year’s Student Council, ad- vised by Mrs. Loretta Helber, is composed of twenty-six members who are elected by the student body. Led by officers Tracy Bell, Eric Griggs Cindy Dennis, and Martha Edgar, the organization meets the first and third Monday of each month for the planning of dances, assemblies, and other special activities. Among the dances sponsored by Student Council were the Homecoming and Basketball Queen dances. These followed the games at which the queens had been crowned. Profits from the dances were used to pay for the queen ceremonies. Assemblies included perfor- mances by the LHS Dance Band and by the group ‘‘Sunshine Express.” At Christmas, Student Council members worked together to decorate the school to create a special holiday atmosphere. The Bloodmobile was scheduled again this year as an activity. Members assisted the nurses and attended to the donors after they had given their blood. The Annual Awards Assembly in the spring ended the year for the council by presenting awards and recognizing deserving students. Although it was difficult to get all the members together at the same time because of sports and other extra-curricular activities. the Student Council members did their best to make improvements for the school. 1.
