Since the school library participates in activities created elsewhere in the school, and also by itself in activities, it is particularly able to sponsor, to capture, to hold the interest of pupils in reading published materials and to make them active and intelligent users of all library, both for pleasure reading and for research. NOMECO UINO On the Indian Summer evening of October, 1967, Miss Fonda Anderson was crowned 1968 Homecoming Queen by Doug Baker, president of Student Council. The mystery play centered around Fred Malone, who played a fatherly soft-spoken man who was as ruthless as Macbeth. After murdering his secretary, played by Cindy Brandon, and his stepdaughter, played by Diane Inboden, he was exposed by Frank Moynihan and his sister Jane, played respectively by Albert Klinger and Georgann McAfee. 84 85 BAQKEWALL DANCE. QUEEN Mary Kay Walsh 86 JUNFOR -SENIOR PRjO U A night to remember—May 4, 1968 —the annual Junior-Senior Prom. For the juniors this prom, Love Is Blue, symbo- lized many hours of hard work and much fun. For the seniors this long-awaited night represented all dances of the past and the grand finale of their high school fun. Prior to the prom, the juniors held the sixth annual Senior Banquet, attended by members of the senior class, the fac- ulty, and the officers of the junior class. The cafeteria was decorated in the class colors of lavender and blue, with each table highlighted by vases of purple vio- lets, the class flower. The end of the prom, however, was not the end of the fun and gaiety. The parents of the junior and senior classes sponsored two post-prom activities. 87 88 89 WSflV CHEERLEADERS LINDA RUFF MARY KAY WALSH PENNY STARR TONY FUNK DOTTIE BLOSSER FONDA ANDERSON RUTH ANN GILLOGLY CHRISTINE ANN WALSH 90 LINDA RUFF Head Cheerleader SENIORS CHRIS WALSH FONDA ANDERSON Captain PENNY STARR RESERVE CHEERLEADERS NORMA RUFF LORAINE HELBER CINDY HEINLEIN KATHY STRAWN VICKI HUFFMAN JAN BROWN SCHOLARSHIP TWO AMERICAN HISTORY Diane Stimel Ted Good Charles Ricketts, 2nd in district. Because of the inclement weath- er both services were held in the High School Auditorium, in- stead of in the stadium as is cus- tomary in fine weather. After the audience and graduating seniors had been greeted by Linda John- son, salutatorian. Dr. Harold P. Rodes, President of General Motors Institute, Michigan, delivered the address Com- placency or Competition? 98 The class was presented by Mr. Har- ley Ellinger, principal of the high school, to Mr. Dale C. Walker, president of the Logan City Board of Education, who, in turn, awarded the diplomas to the grad- uating seniors. The Commencement of the Class of 1968 was a unique one in the history of Logan High School because our class was represented by six valedictorians instead of the usual one. Kipling's poem If was the theme unifying all the valedictorians' speeches and developing the six precepts of mental and emotional stability, honesty and integrity, democracy and indepen- dence. After each one had received his diploma, the whole class united in singing the class song Yesterday written by Mike Brown. The services concluded with the benediction given by The Rev. D. S. Dunkle, and another happy and hopeful class were now graduates of Logan High School. 99 'ALL IN GOOD TIME' We took a long time Getting ourselves together Here at high school. We felt excited, scared, inferior. We saw all the seniors With their books and affairs and fun. For us books come first; We worked hard on the other two. Years passed. We were so far apart from each other. But on the way here, how. Somebody or something Told us that we had something in common. No matter how we dressed Or whom we spent our time with. We were similar. And still are. We found that every emotion. Every tear. Every joy Was shared. And now, As we draw together tonight. Not only physically But spiritually too. We reach for each other And grasping Hate to let go Because we know that That great terrible force called Adulthood Pulls us apart. Yes, and on that cold grey morn That we will awaken to tomorrow. When the pictures are faded And the writing obscured, We will know that this was The last of it. Yes, we were far from each other Then. But, no! It is not too late! We must teach our children to Hold together. Always As we do. Tonight. K. The score undoubtedly proved a sophomore could handle the job. LOGAN 12, HILLARD 0 Everyone had to admit that Greg Poston is a coach's dream. LOGAN 22, NELSONVILLE YORK 0 Logan had blood in their eyes for an old rival which they had been warned against. LOGAN 14, ATHENS 6 Logan's defense did an outstanding job in containing the Athens' backs. Spirit was the name of this game. LOGAN 8, MEIGS LOCAL 14 Fate was against us this night, but the opponents knew before it was over that we were a contender for the S.E.O.A.L. Title. LOGAN 38, WELSTON 3 Wellston's passing offense couldn't get the ball into the air, and when they did Logan's pass defense took it away. LOGAN 38, GALLIPOLIS 0 Logan's famous one-two punch proved their ability once again. Number one punch—Chuck Kemper. Number two punch—Greg Poston. LOGAN 58, VINTON COUNTY 6 Greg West was not to be denied this game. LOGAN 52, JACKSON 0 This was senior's night. She was escorted by Tuck” Connor at the dance, sponsored by the Hi-Y. Sharon Holdridge These Seniors were omitted from the 1966 Aerial, so we are adding them to the supplement. Joan Lehman PARIS BY NIGHT At last it was time for the biggest social event of the year—the Prom. This year the Juniors gave the departing Seniors a truly magnificent Prom. The theme was Paris by Night,” and the decorations included shops, a park with a fountain, a flower cart, and a sidewalk cafe. The band was wonderful, and there was actually a feeling of Paris in the air. The girls were beautiful in their long formals, and the boys really looked great. Before the Prom, the Seniors were guests of honor at a banquet. Afterward everyone went to the Post-Prom at the armory. It was a night to be remembered by everyone, especially the Seniors. A familiar scene around the flower cart. Left to right: Bob Courter, Sandy Shaw, Jeanette Lemon, and John White GRADUATION On the night of June 3, 1966, twelve years of work and happiness came to an end for the 207 graduating seniors of the Class of 1966. The seniors, in traditional black and white robes and mortarboards, took their last look at the beloved school on the hill” and said their last farewell at Commence- ment ceremonies in the stadium. The Sunday before graduation, the seniors attended Baccalaureate services, also in the stadium. Linda Kienzle was valedictorian and Beverly Leonard was salutatorian. Beverly Leonard, salutatorian of the Class of 1966, receives her diploma.
