Each color, and the figure has a specific meaning to the Logan Elm students. The Brave, one who has fought the fiercest of battles and has known the bitterness of defeat and the ecstasy of a victory, stands poised as if daring anyone to oppose him. His face, seasoned with knowledge, has a look of arrogance and a self-respecting pride, easily understood through a deeper insight. His eyes, having beheld the tenderness of love, the tepidity of life, and the coldness of death, stare steadily ahead to the future, the past merely a reminiscence. As a symbol of the Brave's ability to look keenly to the future, he wears a single feather from an eagle, a bird which is known for its keen sight. The black border which trims the flag has is own special connotation. It stands for the courage which rules the Brave's life, the loyalty which grants the Brave responsibility, the stamina which will carry him through his life's journey. All of the Logan Elm Braves see in this Flag the true spirit which has led them nobly through their four years of high school. fyzgafe 51102 a SC50kI'. 7' - Zfbfogr 012 ffe Woof iq'--K 222 6a 'Z 5 I r P L P w N w KELLY JOE AGIN I am not a politician, and my other habits are good also. This is the secret of all effective teaching and of all forms of education. What an appalling obligation and challenge to all parents, teachers and students to attend to the right things, to consider proper and just behavior, to develop sound beliefs and thus will follow responsible action. The school has the obligation of training all for a life of responsibility in relationship to the democratic realities as they exist in the home, church, community and govern- ment. It is my fervent hope that this training will be used to your best advantage. I extend to each graduate, past and present, my most sincere best wishes for happiness and success in the years that lie ahead. MZ. C8050 7 esf gjrzh C40 af To The Class of 1968: As you leave the halls of Logan Elm, pause to look back occasionally to determine just what you learned here. Pos- sibly you benefited greatly, possibly you did not. The choice has been yours, just as the decision to lead a useful and productive life from this point on, will be yours. It is sincerely hoped that your learning has encompassed much more than the material in the textbook alone, for this is but a small part of one's education. Decency and consideration for others, honesty, ambition, responsibility, faith, and yes, common sense, cannot be learned from the printed page. In this day of rapidly changing standards and conflicting philosophies, may you resolve to forever lay hold of the ageless and unchanging values just mentioned, as a guarantee of the good life for you and yours. On behalf of the faculty and administration, we wish you Godspeed in your quest of life. For eight years he has devoted his time in playing a small, but necessary, part in the operation and pro- gress of our school. We wish to show our deepest appreciation and we want you, Mr. McKenzie, to know you will be missed very much next year. 65 . This could be a picture of any woman, a woman un.known to the students of Logan Elm. lnstead, she has become a symbol of total devo- tion and love for the students of Logan Elm. Respectfully and proudly, she is known to us as Miss DeLong, who never failed to praise one who deserved praise, to comfort one who had born sorrow, who was willing to become involved with the life of each of her students. In her never-ending duties as a teacher of French, bookkeeping, and typing, she seasoned the work with amusing quips, practical philosophy, and interesting anecdotes of her travels in Europe. Through her innumerable services, she has given us something that is truly irreplaceable--her friendship. With thankful hearts, we, the 1968 staff, dedicate this Skandha to Miss Alice Debong. ms 5715-Q Zebjony Cwferzd or ers I. Barnhart, A- Goode, D. Hoffman, S. Noble, V. Blubaugh, D. Cooper, R. Lear, B. Ignorance is the greatest enemy of man. It is the most outstand- ing obstacle to overcome as one stands on the brink of his most pro- ductive years. The responsibility of imparting the knowledge required to suppress this ignorance lies with the faculty of a school. The teach- ing staff is called upon to guide the students academically and to assist in preparing them to face the challenges of life intelligently and respon- sibly. The wisdom, patience, and knowledge of the teachers are com- bined to produce the ultimate in well-educated young adults in these early years--the prologue to their lives. x7G206Uk09Q.' In this case, the Circleville, Ohio, Logan Elm Staff prepares a card for each of their advertisers. The card serves as an incentive for the advertiser by making him feel that he is an active school supporter, rather than just another contributor to the year- book staff. We're always receiving queries from schools about ways to increase their advertising power, and we think this a good example. Again, thanks to Barbara Cape for this opportunity to bring recognition to our yearbook. 012 cerf Zan -11 PEP BAND Both the stage band and pep band should be given much credit for their many fine per- formances.
