Every student has a great desire to be the best in his chosen field, be it science, agriculture, home economics, or sports. This tree has the same desire--only in a different sense. The tree wishes to be the straightest, tallest, and most beautiful tree in all the world. To attain this goal, the tree reaches high for heat and light and low in the ground for water: the student reaches high in academics and common knowledge and low to be a most humble servant of God. ...it is the duty of the people at Logan Elm to pursue this knowledge and humility to the fullest degree.
