School progress for the most part means achievement - achievement scholastically, in athletics, in music and in the fundamentals which help us to gain a living and become better citizens. Schools are a mirror of the so- cial order of which they are a partg in a democracy the public schools reflect the equality of opportunity for all children. . . . The most important factor in the school system is the teacher. We have been fortunate in having an experi- enced and capable staff adequately prepared in their re- spective fields. Teachers must have materials and tools with which to work as well as adequate building facili- ties for a modern school program. The community has always arisen to the occasion, being the first to consoli- date, first to construct a new high school, first to vote additional operating levies. This progressive attitude is reflected in the achievements of Logan Elm students. . . .In state scholarship competition our students demon- strated they are better prepared than the average. In in- terscholastic athletics our teams have been outstanding and are feared and respected by all opponents. Every boy is given the opportunity to participate in the sport of his choice. Music, both instrumental and vocal, has be- come a major interest for many of our students. Our band members have added inspiration and color to many various school activities. ln state competition Logan Elm band and vocal talent has been recognized as the best. Such results show that we endeavor to put into practice the lessons taught in the classrooms. 57

J. Fischer, treasurer. SCHOOL BOARD AND BOOSTER CLUB The Booster Club and the Logan Elm Board of Education have many things in common. They are both composed of interested citizens of the community who are willing to devote time and hard work toward many goals and projects throughout the year.
