Every student has a great desire to be the best in his chosen field, be it science, agriculture, home economics, or sports. This tree has the same desire--only in a different sense. The tree wishes to be the straightest, tallest, and most beautiful tree in all the world. To attain this goal, the tree reaches high for heat and light and low in the ground for water: the student reaches high in academics and common knowledge and low to be a most humble servant of God. ...it is the duty of the people at Logan Elm to pursue this knowledge and humility to the fullest degree. We of the 1967 Skandha staff have the intense desire to make this standard as high as possible, therefore we ITILISI pay homage to the tree after which our school and its ideals were founded. ,g TABLE OF CONTENTS CLASSES - - SENIORS - - IUNIORS - - SOPHOMORES FRESHMEN - ACADEMICS - - FACULTY - - HONORS - CLUBS - ATHLETICS - ADVERTISEMENTS - - - - Pages 6-'7 - Page 8 - Page 28 - Page 36 - Pa ge 44 Page 52 - Page 56 Pages 66-67 Pages '78-'79 Pages 100-101 Pages 118-119 A , ,fl f 1 MW fa gm ,X 'X mwqww xx wi MMWM, ' 'WE am, W. ,,,, gm' Zi Q 5 EL xx fix yghmmmb 'Vi pa .5 H EM? It takes but a mpment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich and mighty that he can get along without it, and none so poor but that he can be made rich by it, lt brings rest to the weary, cheer to the dis- couraged, sunshine to the sad, and it's nature 's best antidote for trouble. Yet it can not be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has none to give. School progress for the most part means achievement - achievement scholastically, in athletics, in music and in the fundamentals which help us to gain a living and become better citizens. Schools are a mirror of the so- cial order of which they are a partg in a democracy the public schools reflect the equality of opportunity for all children. . . . The most important factor in the school system is the teacher. We have been fortunate in having an experi- enced and capable staff adequately prepared in their re- spective fields. Teachers must have materials and tools with which to work as well as adequate building facili- ties for a modern school program. The community has always arisen to the occasion, being the first to consoli- date, first to construct a new high school, first to vote additional operating levies. This progressive attitude is reflected in the achievements of Logan Elm students. . . .In state scholarship competition our students demon- strated they are better prepared than the average. In in- terscholastic athletics our teams have been outstanding and are feared and respected by all opponents. Every boy is given the opportunity to participate in the sport of his choice. Music, both instrumental and vocal, has be- come a major interest for many of our students. Our band members have added inspiration and color to many various school activities. ln state competition Logan Elm band and vocal talent has been recognized as the best. Such results show that we endeavor to put into practice the lessons taught in the classrooms. 57 i r QCHOU BOARD David Bolender, Wesley Graves, Jr. qpresidentj Lawrence McKenzie fclerkj, Arthur Leist, Roger Hobble and Mrs. Glenn McCoy Lawrence McKenzie, Board Clerk BOOQ TE? They are both composed of interested citizens of the community who are willing to devote time and hard work toward many goals and projects throughout the year. This years' Pep Club has been undoubtedly the most organized and successful in the school's history. An outstanding project of the Pep Club was a '72 foot sign reading To the Braves, Happiness is Beating Westfall, which was displayed in the Westfall gym during the league game. LANDS LANDS' GARAGE Box 97 Stoutsville, Ohio This 1966-6'7 school year at Logan Elm has been filled from start to finish with many Wonderful experiences. L.E, students have gained many honors, the clubs have been active and useful, and the student body has filled the halls with sounds of learning. It is the goal of the SKANDI-IA staff to keep these memories in one place so that they may be recalled with full pleasure each time the 1967 SKANDHA is opened. We, the co-editors, have many people to thank. The understanding faculty, the devoted staff members, hard working salesmen and solicitors and the co-operative businessmen. They have all helped make our year- book. It is our sincere desire that these combined efforts have produced a prized possession for the students and friends of Logan Elm High School.
