Twenty-four hours before, the cele- bration in favor of the Pollywogs began, and the Shellbacks were chased, ran down, tied up and sprayed with water. The Poly- wogs , however, hadn't counted on what was to follow the next day. This was to be Shellback Day and even though all was in good fun, the shellbacks were plotting against the Pollywogs. On the day of our crossing, Shellbacks dressed as pirates, took on a superior air and pollywogs scattered for safety. Safety was soon lost,though, and the initiation Lnfbc' g fl Z5 the Pollyufvg Day began. After the spraying, crawling, dips in the garbage chute, and kissing of the royal baby'sobelly were complete, Shellback con- gratulated Shellback, and not one Pollywog existed aboard the LOFBERG.
