Superintendent and Board of Education Mr George Emde, Sr. Mr H T. Woodworth Mr Rueben Rott Mr Nelson Davis Mr. Neil Locke Superintendent ' s Message The otterrnath of two woria wars, the ten- sions of the present cold war, the struggle between capital and labor, the Invention and production of weapons designed to destroy civilization, the de- cline of religion, the high crime rate and the gi- gantic tax assessments are all being used by pessi- mists as arguments that civilization is ropidly destroying itself. One person said, All i can do is pity the poor seniors who are being thrown into such o chaotic world. The seniors do not need such pity. They are not afraid of chaos. They thrive on work and they do not expect to be pets of providence, nor do they pray for Ivory Towers where they may idly dream of unearned grandeur. They realize that what we have in America has been attained by thinking and working in a democratic society. They are also aware that what they will have tomorrow will be the result of their thinking and working. They will think and work to perpetuate democracy. Knowing that nothing social or industrial is ever finished, they will assume responsibility for making progress in these fields. The seniors ore learning the art of participa- tion. They are being trained to retain as much rugged individualism as possible but at the same time to cooperate for the good of society. They have khe mental and physical agility to meet the tasks ahead. The seniors will succeed. Board of Education At the end of each year it is evident how much the Board of Education does to maintain an effi- cient educational system. Each member gives much time and help voluntarily to see that our school keeps up its good standards of learning and pro- gress. We appreciate their interest in our welfare and hope we will measure up in the years to come to the faith they have in us.
