DEDICATION To Dorothy Fuller whose untiring devotion and patience has guided many children through the important first year of learning, helping them to establish a firm foundation on which to build their schoolcareers. AUTUMN BEAUTY The woods are aflame with the autumn tints Of russel and red and gold; And the hills stretch away in the distant haze With a beauty that cannot be told. A thousand sunsets have poured their hues All over the countryside; And autumn gathered their glorious tints, Then scattered them far and wide. A tiny dogwood may glean as red As an oak or a maple tree, And each one plays its needed part In the far-flung tapestry. I will seal in my heart the beauty that glows In each forest-clad hill today; It will fade from the trees with the North Wind's blast, But within my heart it will stay. Lillian M. Weeks
