Weresound the appreciation of all who know her when we award the dedication of 1959 “Tiger Tales” to one so worthy of this honor. A thousand sunsets have poured their hues All over the countryside; And autumn gathered their glorious tints, Then scattered them far and wide. A tiny dogwood may glean as red As an oak or a maple tree, And each one plays its needed part In the far-flung tapestry. I will seal in my heart the beauty that glows In each forest-clad hill today; It will fade from the trees with the North Wind's blast, But within my heart it will stay. Lillian M. We shall walk through the still town In a windless peace; We shall step upon white down, Upon silver fleece, Upon softer than these. SPRING SONG A BLUE-BELL springs upon the ledge, A lark sits singing in the hedge; Sweet perfumes scent the balmy air, And life is brimming everywhere. What lark and breeze and blue- bird sing, Is Spring, Spring, Spring! No more the air is sharp and cold; The planter wends across the world, And, glad, beneath the shining sky We wander forth, my love and I. And ever in our hearts doth ring This song of Spring, Spring! For life is life and love is love. Twixt maid and man or dove and dove. Life may be short, life may be long, But love will come, and to its song Shall this refrain forever cling Of Spring, Spring, Spring! PICTURE NOT TAKEN CLASS HISTORY In September of 1947, 50 eager kids entered through the historic doors of Lodi High School. This would be the said place of enjoyment for the next 12 years. As we all flocked into the building we sent the teachers into hysterics; they didn’t have enough room for our oversized class. We were then divided into two sections and would remain that way for all but two of our school years. The first teachers to take over our young and anxious class were Mrs, Fuller and Miss Leatherman. Of these thirty still stayed together through the hard climb up to our Senior Year: Dick Bryant, Carol Chapman, Judy DeVoe, Joyce Forrester, John Hanes, Elaine Huston, Tom Heffelfinger, Diann Hetsler, Alan Lawrence, Carole Landis, Joe Lawton, Kathy Mack, Bill Moss, Fred Phillips, Lois Reusch, Dick Seal, Janet Snader, Kareen Sparr, Tom Underwood , Arlen Vanasdal, BobY oung, Ken Zsarnay, and Walter Zimmerman, Deanna Barnes left us at the end of the first six weeks. Sandra Gedos joined us at the beginning of the second semester. In the second grade Jack Leedy and Bob Holmes joined our class. Mrs. Loomis and Miss Desenberg took over our class to attempt the job of trying to teach us to sing, and to start to write like upperclass- men!! In the third grade our teachers were Mrs. Cummins and Mrs. Hollinger. Some of us felt quite privi- leged when we got to go up stairs in Mrs. Cummins’ room. The fourth grade moved us over totheother side of the playground. Here we put on our first dramatic production of ‘‘The Courtship of Miles Standish.’ Our outstanding star was Jim Mosher who played the part of Priscilla. | We also fed our fine feathered friends, the birds, and played hostesses and hosts to our room. Betty McVicker and Barbara Halley joined our class this year. The fifth grade took us upstairs. MissCummins and Mrs. Brunner were our teachers. Mrs, Brunner left us at the end of the half year with the rememberance of herself and her centipedes. Miss Harkins took over her place, standing before our young and smiling faces. Deanna Barnes came back this year. In the sixth grade we were met at the door by Mrs. Harmon and Mrs. Holman. Who were the lucky ones??!! We all became acquainted with the board of education this year. The sixth grade brought us a lot of preparation and study for our cominghigh school years. We all became very skilled in huck toweling. Didn’t we boys?? Our class also managed to save enough money in sales tax stamps to buy a slide pro- jector,. The seventh grade brought us to the high school building. With our eager hearts, but frightened minds, we began to try to find our way around to our classes, which took us to a differentroom every 45 minutes. For the first time since we were in the first grade we were all together in one room with Mr. Spechalske as our head master. Jim Vacha and Ernie Hanlon joined our class this year. In the eighth grade we were greeted by Mrs. Dowdell and Mrs. Schaffer. Now we really thought we were big shots because we won the trophy for runners up in the County Junior High Basketball Tournament. Bob Lee and Ron Clevidence joined us this year. We were really on our way to gain an education when we became Freshman. Our teachers were Mr. Bangert and Mr. Burton. Martha Morrison joined our class this year and Bob Lucas from Lafayette, and Ica Hall and Bonnie Miller from Chatham. In our Sophomore year we were once again together in one room for the second and last time. Mr. Burton took care of our rowdy bunch, How did you do it. Mr. Burton??!! We were very happy this year when we received our class jackets in royal blue and white. Now everyone could tell that we would grad- uate in ‘ 59’ , Fred Phillips came back this year and Pat Stewart and Ed Kornacki joined us. CLASS HISTORY Our Junior year began with a lot of excitement. Everyone knew this would be the year we would have our first play, and plan a prom. Our play was called ‘‘KISSIN‘ COUSINS’’, It went off with great success and the auditorium was crammed to the rafters. We think Mrs. Dowdell very much for directing our play. Our class spent a lot of time on planning our Juniar-Senior Banquet and Post-Prom, It went off very well. Mr. Burton and Mrs. Hocker were our teachers this year and also now in our Senior year. Bill Palmer and David Coleman joined our ranks. Well, the year has finally arrived when we have become Seniors. It really was worth the long stride. We put on our Senior play in December, ‘ ‘THAT‘S OUR BOY’’. We thank Miss Sechrist for directing it. We would also like to thank the Juniors also, for the wonderful Prom that they held. Denny Tomcho joined us this year and we were very sorry to see him leave at the end of the semester. Ed Kornacki also moved away at the first of the year. We were glad to welcome Dave Wolfe who joined us the second semester. The final climax has come now on June 5, 1959, when our Commencement program has been held. We all know that you will miss us, and we will miss you and old LODI HIGH SCHOOL.
