C ASS Ill TORY One beautiful day in September of 1943, 31 eager and talkative students climbed the long hill to start their first day of school. Out of those 31 greeted by Mrs. Hange, our teacher, only 15 are left - Dorothy Aukerman, Paul Amheiser, Diane Brainard, Richard Byers. Judy Eaken, J im Ginter, Dick lndoe, Dan Kindig, .T udy Payn, Don Reusch, Dick Snader, Don Travis, Jeanne Hagans, Sandy Underwood, and Pat Warner. In the second grade, we were welcomed by Miss Loomis. During that year, Diane Brainard moved away for a short while. The next year, we gained and lost a student. Leslie Lawrence joined us and Jeanne Hagans left us. Miss Grimm was our teacher. We were anxious to start the fourth grade and see Miss Morton because then, we got to play on the other side of the building. At last--we were in the fifth grade and upstairs. Miss Kiplinger met us and tried to keep us under control. It was rather hard because our class was increased by three new pupils, Paula Shepherd, John Elgin and Darrel Woodward. In the sixth grade, Mrs. Harmon supervised us in collecting sales tax stamps for a new radio. LaDonna Holmes, Larry Gynn and Pat Farr came to help us with this new project. We were very proud to know that finally we had reached Junior I-ligh School. Mrs. Eastman and the rest of the faculty tried to make us settle down, but somehow, they never succeeded. Diane Brainard joined us again this year and Judy Eaken moved away. In the eighth grade we were greeted by Mrs. Schafer. It seems that we were a little bit too rough so she had to make use of a little thing called the ruler. We were glad to have Virginia Dewey and Sharon Lance this year. Our class grew by leaps and bounds in our freshman year. We gained Russ Gasser. Dave Grim, Russ Miller, Cindy Noggle, Dick Sabin, Nancy Scholdel, Walter Skidmore, Edna Whinery, Shirley Tomes, and Larry Young. Mrs. I-laugh helped us with our activities. Steadily we climbed to the sophomore class. Under the direction of Mr. Burton, we got first place in the float contest that year. At the end of the year J eamie Hagans came back to be with us. We found our junior year to be busier than ever. We sold pencils and other small items and had both the football and basketball concession stands. Under the direction of Miss Caroll, we had a very successful class play, Hillbilly Weddin '. The biggest event of the year was the Junior and Senior Banquet which was held at Spring Valley Country Club on April 30. With the help of Mr. Burton who went on to the Junior Homeroom with us and the aid of two new students, Judy Eaken and Dean Snider, we had a good year. SENIORSI The year has finally arrived when we rule the roost. This year we have the big job of preparing our annual but with the help of Mr. Burton, the job didn't turn out to be so big. We had a wonderful time this year and I guess we all hate to leave Lodi High but some day you will hear of us again. . ew! :Lua-.f ,f . -
