Girls’ Glee Club ROW 1—Dorothy Hastings, Virginia Clouse, Betty McGarvey, Phyllis Esselburn, Jackie Duck, Betty Young, Fay Rosengrant, Mary Jane Bartholomai, Vera Flanagan, Jean Strouse, Lorene Shaw, Miriam Szikula, Vivian Wightman. ROW 2—June Kobb, Elizabeth Moss, Virginia Hall, Carrie Taylor, Jeanine Ziegler. Elyaine Pickering, Diane James, Joyce Barth, Eva Indoe, Betty Berry, Pauline Straub, Sally White. Joyce Underwood, Jean Dunning. ROW 3—Eloise House, Dolores Horner, Georgia Hoff, Donna Moore, Alice Holmes, Dolores Jamison, Wilma Paterson, Pat Arnold, Norma Garman, Betty Burr, Ryta Derhammer, Kathy Smith, Gwenivere Miller, Laura Cash. The Girls Glee Club consists of forty-one girls chosen from the ninth grade through the twelfth. The girls meet on Wednesday of every week in the high school auditorium during the third period in the morning. Mrs. Evelyn Schmidt is the director. From the Girls Glee was chosen a sextet consisting of Betty McGarvey, and Donna Moore, soprano; Mary Jane Bartholomai, and Pauline Straub, second; Jackie Duck and Virginia Hall, alto. The student must be present at the regular weekly meeting and she is required to sing tn any public appear- ances made by the group. Girls sextet sang three Christmas Carols for the members of the Medina Farm Bureau. Any Freshman, Sophomore, Junior or Senior is eligible to have her voice tested to become a member of the club.

Boys’ Glee Club i € = 4 ROW 1—Buddy Strouse, Dick Rice, Gordon Warnes, Harold McGrady. Phillip Norton, Bill Burnett. Robert Seifert, Ralph Tanner. ROW 2—Bob Blackburn, Alan Krantz, Edmund Ginter, Bob Duck, Don Bloomster, Don Houston, Raymond Weaver, Bill Bittner. ROW 3—Eddie Debro, Pete Reynolds. Boyd Lance, Dean Hopkins, Richard Cash, Larry House, Roger Ripley. The boys glee club consists of all boys in the upper four grades who have shown their desire to participate in the vocal activities of L H. S. He must also be approved by the director of the glee club, Mrs. Mildred Hobart The accompanist for the group is Mrs. Edith Roberts. From the boys’ glee club is taken a quartet consisting of two tenors and two basses who in Mrs. Hobart’s estimation have possibilities of making the best combination. This year’s quartet includes: Don Bloomster, Ist tenor; Don Houston, 2nd tenor; Bob Seifert, lst bass; Bob Blackburn, low bass. Mary Jane Bartholomai is the pianist for this group.

ROW 3—Larry House, Don Bloomster, Robert Seifert, Carry Taylor, Eva Indoe, Georgia Hoff, Vera Flanagan, Betty Beety! Mary Jane Bartholomai, Joyce Underwood, Sally White, Pauline Straub, Lorene Shaw, Richard Cash. ROW 4—Dorothy Hastings, Jackie Duck. Virginia Hall, Fay Rosengrant. Dolores Jamison, Alice Holmes, Norma Garman, Betty Burr, Robert Duck, Robert Blackburn, Bill Burnett, Ramon Weaver, Don Houston. Any Freshman, Sophomore, Junior or Senior is eligible to have his voice tested to become a member of the chorus. Only those with the best voices are accepted. The student must be present at the regular meeting and he is required to sing in any public appearances made by the group. They meet on Monday of every week during the third period in the morning, under the supervision of Mrs. Mildred Hobart. From this group of boys and girls Mrs. Hobart chose an octet including Betty McGarvey, and Dolores Horner, soprano; Virginia Hall, and Fay Rosengrant, alto; Don Bloomster, and Don Houston, tenor; Robert Seifert and Robert Blackburn, bass. Seven were chosen to participate in the Annual Messiah Chorus in Medina in December, they were: Robert Seifert, Don Bloomster, Boyd Lance, Robert Duck, Don Houston and Mary Jane Bartholomai. On March 7, the Special Chorus, presented the operetta, “‘H. M. S. Pianfore” by Gilbert and Sullivan. There were several leading solo parts: Robert Seifert as Sir Joseph Porter, Laura Cash as Hebee, Robert Blackburn as Dead-Eye, Don Bloomster as Ralph Rackstraw, Jackie Duck as. Butter-Cup, Betty McGarvey as Josephine, Boyd Lance as Bob Beckett, Bill Bittner as Bill Bobstay, and Don Houston as Captain Corcoran. The chorus makes an annual appearance in the spring program: and also sings at other school functions throughout the year. Mixed Chorus consisted of so many members Mrs. Hobart had to choose from this group the best ones and therefore changed the name to “Special Chorus.”
