Class History On a bright September day in 1935, twenty-four wide-eyed and frightened children climbed up the hill to L. H. S. to enter the first grade. Miss DeLong was our first grade teacher and she helped to make us feel at home. Of these twenty-four, Mary Jane Bartholomai, Robert Seifert, and Dudley Fetzer are the originals who have been with the class for the past twelve years. Jean Strouse also started with them that year but she moved away to return later. Mrs. Whitney taught us in the second grade the following year. Robert Skimin joined the class. Miss Vanasdale and Miss EFPD ICY were our third and ais grade teachers. We ruled the roost the next two years for we were upstairs. By this time school had ‘grown on us” and we liked it. Our teachers were Miss Edwards and Miss Blust. The eventful day in 1941 found us in the high school building with the days of recesses in the past. We were pretty big shots now changing classes, studying (?) in study hall, using the library and getting a big share of the detention hall slips. Miss Conkle was our homeroom teacher. Dolores Jamison added her name to our class roll. And now at long last we were Freshmen! We had had a long climb and all of us made it. The mighty Lafayette students, Emma Burkey, Dale Emmons, Donna Moore, Roy Farnsworth, Frank Szikula and Steven Toth joined us. Kenneth Wood, Jean Strouse, Elizabeth Moss, Margaret Moss and Glenna Silves also entered. Miss Clinker was our home room teacher.

During our Sophomore year we became more grown up and less silly. Our homeroom teacher was Mr. Williams. Richard Cash, Robert Skimin and Robert Duck entered the class. Donald Bloomster entered in our Junior year and Mr. Mosher was in charge of our home room. This year was full of excite- ment, the main events being our class play and the Junior-Senior Banquet. Our last and Senior year was here finally. We have added Alice Holmes to our class roll making twenty of us lofty, dignified Seniors. It hardly seemed possible that the twelve years had gone so fast. The Seniors were represented in everything in the school. Student Council, basketball, octet, sextet, Hermits, Dra- matic Club, etc. Miss Sechrist was our home room teacher. We have had many happy years in L. H. 8. and are sorry to leave it. But graduation day happens to the best of people. It was nice while it lasted. But it's ended—so now “good-bye.”
