Although we will be leaving it soon we shall always remember the many pleasant times and experiences that have happened to us here in the past years. We have made many friends and have worked with others in the community. It’s as though we had grown up together. We appreciate all they and the community have done for us. “AINT IT THE TRUTH YOU CAN TELL A JUNIOR — BY THE WAY HE'S ORESSED; YOU CAN TELL A SOPHOMORE BY THE WAY HE THROWS OUT WIS CHEST; YOU CAN TELL A FRESHMAN - BY HIS TIMID LoOKS AND SUCH; You CAN TELL A SENIOR- BUT YOU CAN'T TELL HIM MUCH!!! KILROY WAS HERE Class History On a bright September day in 1935, twenty-four wide-eyed and frightened children climbed up the hill to L. H. S. to enter the first grade. Miss DeLong was our first grade teacher and she helped to make us feel at home. Of these twenty-four, Mary Jane Bartholomai, Robert Seifert, and Dudley Fetzer are the originals who have been with the class for the past twelve years. Jean Strouse also started with them that year but she moved away to return later. Mrs. Whitney taught us in the second grade the following year. Robert Skimin joined the class. Miss Vanasdale and Miss EFPD ICY were our third and ais grade teachers. We ruled the roost the next two years for we were upstairs. By this time school had ‘grown on us” and we liked it. Our teachers were Miss Edwards and Miss Blust. The eventful day in 1941 found us in the high school building with the days of recesses in the past. We were pretty big shots now changing classes, studying (?) in study hall, using the library and getting a big share of the detention hall slips. Miss Conkle was our homeroom teacher. Dolores Jamison added her name to our class roll. And now at long last we were Freshmen! We had had a long climb and all of us made it. The mighty Lafayette students, Emma Burkey, Dale Emmons, Donna Moore, Roy Farnsworth, Frank Szikula and Steven Toth joined us. Kenneth Wood, Jean Strouse, Elizabeth Moss, Margaret Moss and Glenna Silves also entered. Miss Clinker was our home room teacher. During our Sophomore year we became more grown up and less silly. Our homeroom teacher was Mr. Williams. Richard Cash, Robert Skimin and Robert Duck entered the class. Donald Bloomster entered in our Junior year and Mr. Mosher was in charge of our home room. This year was full of excite- ment, the main events being our class play and the Junior-Senior Banquet. Our last and Senior year was here finally. We have added Alice Holmes to our class roll making twenty of us lofty, dignified Seniors. It hardly seemed possible that the twelve years had gone so fast. The Seniors were represented in everything in the school. Student Council, basketball, octet, sextet, Hermits, Dra- matic Club, etc. Miss Sechrist was our home room teacher. We have had many happy years in L. H. 8. and are sorry to leave it. But graduation day happens to the best of people. It was nice while it lasted. But it's ended—so now “good-bye.” Last Will and Testament of Class of 1947 We, the members of the Lodi High School Class of 1947 being of sound mind (?) and body, do hereby make this last will and testament. SECTION I Article 1—We, the members of the Senior Class, leave the school in a better condition than we found it. Article 2—To the members of the faculty we leave our quiet ways. The Juniors have proven themselves to be an ambitious lot in their untiring efforts, under the leadership of Mr. B. P. Dowler, to fill their class treasury. They conducted the sale of candy, pop, hotdogs, etc., at the basket- ball and football games, managed a stand at the Lodi Fall Fair and did many other worthwhile tasks. The Junior Class play “Date Bait’ was presented cn December 14. This skillfully rendered production was under the very capable direction of Miss Marjorie Johnston. The Juniors were represented in nearly every high school activity. This includes four first string varsity basketball players, and five first string football players, not to mention all the juniors who hold office in the many organizations. Each one was responsible for his part in the annual. Much of the expense of the production of an annual is paid for by the advertisements, so some of the boys have been busy contacting business men in Lodi and neighboring towns. Other seniors have written the different articles in the annual. The girls are responsible for typing the articles. The Activities and Sport Editor of the Annual Staff are responsible for the various organizations. Our Assistant Editor-in-chief, wrote the class history, class will, and plans for the future article. The Art Editor has designed our annual and made it attractive. The purpose of the organization consists of approving requests from school organizations for parties and other social gatherings, formulating policies and supervising the election of cheer leaders, aiding in setting up a program of noon activities, sponsoring activities for assembly programs of professional talent, and encouraging among the students a feeling of responsibility toward their part in making their school better. Regular business meetings, with refreshments as an added attraction, are held once a month in the evening. This year many of the club members had their first opportunity to see a Shakesperian production when twenty- four pupils journeyed to Kent to see “Macbeth” produced by the Kent University Players. In November the Dramatic Club enacted a play for assembly, in recognition of National Education Week. At Christmas, with the help of the music department and grades, the club presented a play with tableaux, entitled “Songs of Christmas.’ In May was the annual Guest Night. The major project of the year in which all co-operated was the production of “January Thaw” in March. This play, based on the novel by Bellamy Partridge, provided plenty of complications when the original owners moved back into the:‘Connecticut house now occupied by the Gage family from New York. Officers for the year were: President, Dudley Fetzer;Vice-President, Robert Seifert; Secretary, Mary Jane Bar- tholomai; Treasurer, Don Bloomster; Advisor, Miss Sechrist.
