MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE CLASS OF 1943 By Janet Bartholomai Would it ever arrive? Little did we think in September 1931, that May 1943 would arrive so quickly, but now that the long looked-for day has come we hesitate—do we want to leave? For twelve long years we have endeavored to obtain the know- ledge and skills which will be the basis of our life in years to comes As graduation approaches, we wonder what the years ahead of us have in store. Perhaps it is a good thing that we cannot foretell and foresee the future events. Regardless of what tomorrow has for us, the friendships, and the school act-= ivities, and the-experiences in meeting problems and solving them throughout these years should be a very dofinite asset in meeting situations whieh will arise in later life. As we look on the world today and see the problems which we will bescalled upon to solve in this world so disorganized and upset by war, we can sco placcs where we might havc done better. However, these facts romain unchanged by wishful thinking. Therefore, in the future, wo must rosolve to put our best into whatever wo are doing. It is for these reasons that we have taken, and aro now completing, this twelvee-ycar course in school. I hopo evory Sonior has succoeded in taking somothing from this training that will help him in this troubled and trying world. So in closing, I would like to say to the Seniors: Should school acquaintance be forgot And nevor brought to mind? Should school acquaintanco be forgot And days of Auld Lang Syne? For teachers, classmates, schoolmatos all A tonder thought we bring; Our loving tribute as to-night Our parting song we sing. And hero's a hand my friond of ycars, Give us a hand of thine; And pledge a lasting loyalty For days of Auld Lang Syne. wel) Sve
