ii, 72. ya r 5 xx fn? We, the Class of 1959, have the honor of graduating in the 25th year of Lodi High School. As a class, we are deeply conscious of this honor. We leam in history that to understand the present we must know how past traditions came to be. Therefore, so that we may appreciate our present status, we shall relate the events of our past. In 1934, when the members of the first class of Lodi High School started their career, they were without the exceptiohal opportunities of our present freshmen. But despite the limited facilities, these freshmen were responsible for an outstanding football team, and also for the dance that was to become our annual Sophomore Hop. It was the junior class which really laid our foundation, the Student Government. The president of this organizationhad a tremendous roll to assume and succeeding presidents have had to work very diligently to follow the traditions established under his leadership. Socially, the class established itself in a regal manner by sponsoring another outstanding social event, the junior Prom, which was held in the high school gymnasium. Scholastically, they were brought to the foreground by instituting a local chapter of the National Honor Society. The seniors of '36 were conscious of the high position they had attained. They were a class of accomplishments and realized ambitions. We, the Seniors of 1959, have endeavored to follow their lead.
