Preambl ' mewwm! Grant us brotherhood, not only for this day but for all our years - a brotherhood not of words but of acts and deeds. XVe are, all of us, children of earth - grant us that simple knowledge. If our brothers are oppressed, then we are oppressed. If they hunger, we hunger. If their freedom is taken away, our freedom is not securef, Through the ages it has been man's great desire to liye in peace with his fellow-man. The Magna Carta and the Bill of Rights fostered individual free- dom and security. But man has come to realize that the peace of one nation depends upon the peace of all nations. To this end the United Nations is dedi- cated - to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men - and of nations, large and smallf, XVe, the Class of 1955 of Lodi High School, reared in the shadow of international strife - well aware of the peril to our individual dignity and freedom, be- seech you to join us in a solemn pledge of active sup- port in the United Nations - the greatest effort yet attempted by man toward the realization of universal security - for the UN. today is the hope of world peace tomorrow. 4
