As we step into the world of tomorrow, we shall each carry some memory of the days as timid frosh or the months as glorious seniors. For many, those in-between years , as sopho- mores and juniors, will ignite the flame of remembrance and we will keep within our hearts a vivid picture of the time spent at the high school on the hill. As we seat ourselves on our massive Oriental rug-a magic carpet carrying us back through our years as high school teen- agers-we take in hand our book of memories bound in green. We invite you to peek over our shoulders as we turn these pages and Bid Time Return , . 5 1 l ,fr 6 'm Sl Q rp 'll fl 6 B 4 K X DEDICATION ffwwwmmfw-ww fwqawLJewz'ecZ4mwcwz'am,qamw.mm Wwwdflmwmwwwfwdwmcw- WQZJLQQZM4 of 1952, Jedfwie fm, am Www, Za qw, fm. FRANK GACIOFANO P' ' l PRINCIPAVS MESSAGE Ten years ago your fellow graduates helped to win a war, the purpose of which was to end all strife in the world. Many of them laid down their lives in the belief that the sacrifice they were making would bring peace and progress to a world enveloped in hatred, selfishness, and ruthlessness. In spite of all the efforts of many governmental agencies, international as well as national, to bring about some order out of chaos, the world again today finds itself on the brink of disaster. You who are about to leave Lodi High School must be unflagging in your efforts to help bring quiet and tranquillity to the peoples of the world. Each of you can further this fight by holding uppermost in your minds those ideals which the American way of life instills in each of us: loyalty to country and fellow man, courage to meet the tasks which our country's leaders set for us, and love and respect for each individual, no matter of what race, color, or creed. l have confidence that you will not be found lacking! MR. AUGUST LASCARI Vice Principal To you we owe the superior quality of knowledge we have gained here these past four years. Through your untiring efforts we have received only the best type of instruction. Our gratitude and respect are forever yours. MR. PATRICK E. TEDESCO Supervisor of instruction ADMINISTRA TORS' You have set the pattern of good behavior which we have tried our best to follow. We shall be per- petually thankful to you when, in the future, we reap the harvest of self- control which you have cultivated through your good advice and disci- plinary measures. MR, ANTHONY J. l.ALUMlA Guidance Director Always ready with a capable hand to lead us to the best courses ot instruction, you have guided us well. We thank you gratefully. MR. LOUlS A. MARCH Director of Activities Your leadership has not gone unappreciated, We thank you for your unseltish expenditure of time and effort in directing our extra-curricular activities and leading us to higher social and scholastic standards. MISS ROSA STASSI Dean of Girls None other has been so completely willing and able to understand our every need. Our undying gratitude shall be yours always. MR. STANLEY PIELA Supervisor of Physical Education and Health We congratulate you for your success at the close of the first year in your role as head of the Lodi Physical Education and Health Departments tor the schools. Taking our first' uncertain steps, we met with many obstacles, but, filled with the determina- tion to conquer, we progressed and are about to take on the greater responsibility of becom- ing Sophomores. We leave behind a good example to be fol- lowed by incoming Freshmen, we take with us memories of our freshmen social-the event which marked our embarkation into high-school society. Your eyes will mirror the years gone by and you will pick up the l952 edition of Magic Casements, bound in green-its cover fading with age, and turn the pages tenderly -remembering the years which are enclosed for all time within its covers. Glancing at the pages, you will see faces you may have forgotten and will wonder how you could have wandered so far from your old school- mates. You may experience a pang of sorrow as you recall those glorious days-spent in planning the future which has become the present. You will close your eyes and search your memory for a name or a familiar face-reliving those days of high-school life. Determined to share these memories with an old friend, you may go to the telephone and find at the other end of the receiver a voice which brings to mind the Senior Ball, or some other EDITORS happy event. Happy New Year, Jim, a long time since we got together with the old crowd. And, as you replace the receiver, you will look forward to a reunion and the discussion of days which you had almost forgotten. If, some day in the future, this scene does take place, we, the staff of your i952 edition of Magic Casements, will know the greatest ofxjoys, for our hard work will have fulfilled its purpose. The school was strange to us, and we walked through the wide, unfriendly-looking halls, peeking behind doors to read the room numbers, in order to get to the right rooms at the right time. We felt out of place, friend- less, and shy. Determined to start our long search for knowledge on the right foot, we elected our class officers: Bob Piela, President, Alfred Wonesh, Vice Presidentg Dorothy Czarnogursky, Secretary, and Myra Paske, Treasurer. Em- barking on our limited social career we held our first dance-the Freshman Social--under the watchful eye of our adviser Miss Jeanne Lo Castro. Our theme was Harvest Moon and.beneath its glow we found new friends among our fellow Fresh, During the Magazine Campaign, Mrs. Seyerlein's seventh period English Class won top honors and a trip to New York in one of '49's worst snow storms. Out on the basketball courts, Charles Domke was paving the way to future fame. Our Fresh football and basketball teams both en- joyed top seasons. Our Freshman class discovered that two of its members were real thespians, as Anita Marlais and Ken Fowler landed roles in the Dramatic Club play. George Sanders was recognized as an accomplished art- ist when he won a prize in the art contest. By June, it was known to all that our class had maintained the highest of scholastic standards and we were re- lieved when School's Out! rang through the halls. . NOW FOR '49-'50 With the surnmerwtime still in our hearts, we returned to Lodi High School under a new banner--the glory of being Sophomores-no more ridi- culing, no more teasing! What a relief! By this time, our shyness was long forgotten and we watched the world about us grow more friendly and recep- tive to our presence. Assured that we were headed the right way, we again elected class officers: Bob Piela, President, Ivan Place, Vice Presidentg Doro- thy Matus, Secretary: and Shirley Rehm, Treasurer. Football season saw many of our male classmates working like mad to make the Varsity Team. Charles Domke, our pride and joy, earned our respect and admiration as we watched him playing with the Varsity basketball squad. Under the guidance of Miss Jeanne Lo Castro, our adviser for the second time, we had an extremely suc- cessful Valentine Dance--and began to look with eagerness into the Future! During this year, we enjoyed a few phenomena, such as the skit presented by one of Mr. Niosi's biology classes, giving the audience a peek into the classroom, and the announcement that Rosemarie Trinka had won first prize in the poetry contest. Who knew that she wrote poetry??? The school year closed with the usual happy shouts, and we settled down to rest and wait for an even greater year. AND '50-'51 As triumphant Juniors, we settled down to electing class officers: Bob Piela, President ithird timel 3 Ronald Warren, Vice President, Dorothy Matus, Secretary: and Shirley Rehm, Treasurer. Miss Svec was our adviser. Leaving l0O Til.: gl s 0 eff 1' . J X Yr-iqntevleak Q1-eshviia.iL, X! if Tiwwniu Bnsceibali Ei CAPS 5 QFFICEQ5 X X x s xv, Q1 x ,L :bg :Qs time Qs Sora-i - K-ko? J. To Mrs, Del Greco, we leave a pack of gum so that she can learn to enjoy the pleasure of chewing it. To Mrs. Ferko, we leave an entire class that takes dictation at l8O words a minute. To Miss Le Vow, we leave some studious souls who will appreciate the peace and quiet she tries so hard to achieve. To our English teachers, Mrs. Hannigan, Mrs. Scandariato, and Miss Sabella, we leave students who know how to write term papers and book reviews better than those in the New York Times. To Mr. Saluppo, we leave our thanks for inspiring us and encouraging greater school spirit. To Miss Alessi, we leave vitamin pills so that she won't collapse after the decorations for each social event are completed. To Mrs. Nicotra, we leave a National Honor Society that will sell over one- hundred wreaths. We leave a supply of scotch tape to mend the string of broken hearts that Frank Costa leaves behind. Lucien Baron leaves his intelligence to all those who wish to become members ofthe National Honor Society. Claire Wisniewski and Marilyn Stellingwerf leave their charming personalities to all the Junior girls. Loretta Savastano leaves to Jay Lalumia a good cheering squad for i952-l 953.
