Before you delve into the story of our school year, stop and see how our new swimming pool brought refreshing pleasure to the girls on those hot days last fall. Girls seen in the pool are Lois Atteberry, Io Reirnche, Pat Waddell, Elaine Graham, Mcxrty Houtmon, Claire Gerow, cmd Bev Young. Brizendine, Annettcr Smith, Ioan li- inn- -4..L-nh-I-..z it -Ml llllnsleiiu XM Four Foreword . Frightened freshmen, sophisticated sophomores, jolly juniors, and serious seniors- many times We shall pause for a m0ment's reflection about our happy days at Lodi. Glancing back over the year, what are some of the memories that will go with us as we leave the academy campus? VVill we recall- the day we first enrolled at Lodi Academy? the first class-and getting lost on our way to the second one? the first Week end and that kinda lonesome feeling? other week ends and the student-planned religious activities? the bruises we got skating at the gym on Saturday nights? all those quiet study periods with the Hgab sessions following? when the leaves fell and winter set in with rain? Christmas vacation and its change from the routine of school? the first days of spring-and the banquet with a special friend? the picnics, with maybe a stiff ankle from running in the three-legged race? graduation day, which was met with mingled anticipation, sadness, and joy? That was the day each senior realized that it had come-the climax of four years at Lodi Academy! Parents, friends, faculty, and fellow students-we, the staff, invite you to share pleasant REFLECTIONS in the LODIAN LIGHT of 1954. Dedication it I mr,--my Wi w gg... mm H. ' s ' . i ' i lille y Eg x r f T - A 1 4 f , . In past, present and future years we shall remember them for their devoted efforts for God's cause. Worlting with the students on their personal problems and extra-curricular ac- tivities 'they enjoy God's presence in their lives. Their untit- ing interest in the Seminar and other religious activities has greatly benefited the student body. Witlr Christ so repre- sented in their lives, they stand as examples of Christian living. The CROWDERS deserve our dedication of the LODIAN LIGHT of 1954. d gtgjgl1Ngg1ll'ii W.. ,mi l ive ReHected in the wheels of school life are more than buildings. Wy qlinlocieing the Doorstof Opportunity at Lodi Jqcaciemy Many contend that we are living in an age when everything that is worthwhile in life has already been invented or accomplished, that a young person today does not have the same opportunities that young people have had in years past. Such reasoning is un- founded, for we are living in a complex society where educational standards are ever being raised. The young person that does not keep abreast of the rising educational standard will be left behind, while they who gain an education will become the leaders of the future. We here at Lodi Academy are endeavoring to train our young people for a purposeful life. Aside from training young minds for a useful life, the academy here is a school founded to provide also a special type of education for its young people. The Work of education and the Work of redemp- tion are oneg for in education, as in redemption, 'other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Christ Iesus. ' Ed. p. 30. It is the purpose of this school to provide for its young people a Christ-centered curriculum, one that trains for Christian leadership in this life while' it also prepares for the joys of Eternity. At Lodi Academy doors of opportunity may still be unlocked! Sincerely your friend, L. W. Born Top: Come in, fellows. Thirty-six our Week of Prctyer For us in need of spiritual encouragement and words to inspire the heart, Elder Fred Osbourifs visit to our campus proved a spiritual blessing. He conducted the fall VVeek of Prayer. His simple but forceful plan of portraying the Christians way to us was eagerly accepted by all who heard his inspiring words. Weelcs of Prayer are long remembered by our student body for they make us feel a spirit of love and good will for our classmates, neighbors and friends. Elder H. E. Douglas, Bible instructor of Pacific Union College, conducted our spring VVeek of Prayer. God has richly blessed us students here at Lodi Academy with many talents. If we use them in a consecrated manner, our lights will shinc so that others may join us in the Christian Way. Hi . . . shall we go? our Fall Festival Decorating began days ahead of the long-awaited fall festival. Many hours were spent getting ideas, making plans and then seeing them through. The theme was western! As the big night drew near, many of us were rushing about hunting for appropriate clothing. As We stepped inside, out ol the cool chill ot the evening, We saw typical Western atmosphere . . . ranch-style Corral, saddles, hay, and colortully decorated tables. Music while We ate Was presented by an old-lashioned farmers' band, This was our special night ot the fall months, now it is only a memory-but ct pleasant one. Top: Hurry! She may beat you! Center: Thanks for cr wonderful evening. Bottom: It's over . . . only a memory now Sixty-nine Byron Duerkson, master of ceremonies, welcomes all to a pleasant evening at the spring banquet. ls riffs Bob, Io, DuAnn, Marclyn and Polly hope their Wishes come true Southern belles and beaus . . . lNan'1es are listed at the bottom of the page.J our Banquet Was the magic spell cast over you as you stepped through the vine-covered arbor and found your place at the candle-lit banquet tables? During the meal did you enjoy the dinner rnusic? Between courses did you and your special iriend slip up to the wishing- Well and let a penny slip through your fingers into the Water as you made a wish, and has it come true? Did the girl next to you sip her punch too loud, or did the tie of the fellow across the aisle Worry you because it wasiit straight . . . or were you so Wrapped up in your own happy thoughts that you didn't notice? Whatever the case, it was a Wonderful evening . . . orchids . . . the bus ride. . . soft music. . . and memories galore! Clockwisei Everett, D gleish, C. F. Loewen, Werner, M. C. Decker, R.
