MR. W. I. BURKE High School Principal As my first year of being high school principal draws to a close, I would like to thank the students of L. G. H. S and especially the Seniors for their cooperation during the school year. Perhaps the moments shared were not always enjoyable but I hope they were worthwhile. Since these words here may be the last I may impart to many of you, let me re-emphasize the theme of the past year. Without discipline, success is nil. A disciplined person is a joy to himself as well as others. For only through self control, can one begin to proceed along the high road instead of the low road. Divide et impera. Divide and conquer. If you try to do too many things all at once you will do nothing well. If, however, you do each day's work well you will be pleased with the results and motivated to do at least one type of work well in life and this should be your vocation. Success does not consist in doing many things, but in doing whatever you do well and to the best of your ability. C. E. Cheyney MR. C. E. CHEYNEY Grade School Principal 5

MR. ELMER MAIN, Superintendent SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE As the 1966 edition of the Indian goes to the print, the class of 66 is winding up its last year at Lodge Grass High School. For me it has been an interesting year. I have had to slowly become acquainted with each one of you as the year progressed. All of you have been placed under one form or another of strain to keep up with your academic subjects, your extra-curricular activities, and the task assigned; that of making the best possible adjustment to adult life. You have worked hard, but you have not overlooked the pleasures of school life, as the pages in. this book will illustrate. A higher co-operation of the faculty and the parents. You have been exposed to the sciences, the arts, and the humanities. However, as we look back on this past year, we can be satisfied that we accomplished many of our objectives. We must look ahead to continued activity, and pledge ourselves to maximum exertion. This book is representative of the present and the past. As the years go by you will value it more and more for the many reflections it contains of your four years at a Lodge Grass High School. You will place a high value on it for the memories it contains of your classmates and the things you saw and did while you were a member of Lodge Grass High. 4
