DEDICATION PAGE 1965 BASKETBALL TEAM Wc the staff of the 1966 INDIAN dedicate this annual to the 1965 Basketball Team. The only Lodge Crass team to win the Divisional Tournament and the only class B team from Lodge Crass to place in the State Tourney. PICTURED L. TO R. : VV. Wagenaar, ass't. coach, W. Falls Down, B. ELMER MAIN, Superintendent SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE As the 1966 edition of the Indian goes to the print, the class of 66 is winding up its last year at Lodge Grass High School. For me it has been an interesting year. I have had to slowly become acquainted with each one of you as the year progressed. All of you have been placed under one form or another of strain to keep up with your academic subjects, your extra-curricular activities, and the task assigned; that of making the best possible adjustment to adult life. You have worked hard, but you have not overlooked the pleasures of school life, as the pages in. this book will illustrate. A higher co-operation of the faculty and the parents. You have been exposed to the sciences, the arts, and the humanities. However, as we look back on this past year, we can be satisfied that we accomplished many of our objectives. We must look ahead to continued activity, and pledge ourselves to maximum exertion. This book is representative of the present and the past. As the years go by you will value it more and more for the many reflections it contains of your four years at a Lodge Grass High School. You will place a high value on it for the memories it contains of your classmates and the things you saw and did while you were a member of Lodge Grass High. 4 MR. W. I. BURKE High School Principal As my first year of being high school principal draws to a close, I would like to thank the students of L. G. H. S and especially the Seniors for their cooperation during the school year. Perhaps the moments shared were not always enjoyable but I hope they were worthwhile. Since these words here may be the last I may impart to many of you, let me re-emphasize the theme of the past year. Without discipline, success is nil. A disciplined person is a joy to himself as well as others. For only through self control, can one begin to proceed along the high road instead of the low road. Divide et impera. Divide and conquer. If you try to do too many things all at once you will do nothing well. If, however, you do each day's work well you will be pleased with the results and motivated to do at least one type of work well in life and this should be your vocation. Success does not consist in doing many things, but in doing whatever you do well and to the best of your ability. C. E. Cheyney MR. C. E. CHEYNEY Grade School Principal 5 MR. CLASS COLORS Royal Blue And Gold CLASS FLOWER Golden Spectre 11 CAROLE ANDERSON ROBERT FALLS DOWN He may seem quiet and look naive; but if you know Robert thats hard to believe. MARK CHANDLER I'm willing to taste any drink once. Whenever she's needed she'll be there ever ready to do her share. RICHARD BRAATEN Kind and Generous, frank, and always ready for a midnight prank. RICK BURRIS All great people are dead; I'm not so well myself. BERNARD COVERS UP An athlete that scored in more ways than one. 12 NANCY GEORGE Then she will laugh — good god, how she will laugh. ROD GREGORY A great nose indicates a great man. GAIL IRON Nothing is impossible to a willing heart. LUANNA JEFFERSON A rose is sweeter in the bud than in full bloom. 13 CONNIE LITTLELIGHT Give me time. MARY LU MURRAY They copied all they could, but they couldn't copy my mind. RONNIE MEDICINE CROW Studies, if he takes a notion. STEVEN MIKAMI A woman would run through fire and water for such a kind heart. 14 BRUCE WILEY A man among men, a lion among women. CHARLES WILEY There'll be a hot time in the old town to-night. 15 16 CLASS PROPHECY As we look into the crystal ball for 1976 our outstanding class President, Charles Wiley is seen busy at work putting out the 900th edition of the Mad Magazine. We hope that Charles will continue this educational work of this well known Wyola magazine. In Wyola we have another celebrity, Nancy George, the well known producer of the Wild Beach Parties; we might add that her fellow classmate, Richard Burris, the distinguished lawyer of the Defenders, is helping her win the lawsuit, George vs Lodge Grass . She has been littering the beaches of Willow Creek Reservoir. We find another classmate, Professor Rod R. Gregory, who has invented a woman robot, He further states that its not as good as the real thing on a date. Accompaning him is Butch Braaten who will stop off in Two Dot where he will take care of the largest fungus patch in the world. Now boarding another plane is the renowned hunter, Curtis Laughery with liis pack of coon dogs. He is going to hunt the elusive bedbug in Africa. While in Africa he will run into Te-Atta Old Bear and Jerome White Hip who joined the Peace Corps to help teach war dances to the Pigmys A-go-go. Meanwhile Bruce Wiley is traveling to Forsyth to make a study of bird calls from local bird brains for his scheduled appearance on the Happy Herb show. Back at Kennedy International Airport Gail Iron, famous woman biologists, is stepping off her chartered plane and is greeted by the flashes of cameras after her great discovery of the warbling albino yellow-bellied sap-sucker. Ronnie Medicine Crow helped fly the first all women space team to Mars, and of course the spaceship didn't need to generate its own fuel. At the bottom of the ramp waits a dear classmate, Bertha Not Afraid, who is the star of the afternoon soap opera My Mother, The Still . She is also a stockholder in Moonshiners Inc. 17 As our classmates head for the heart of New York City they pass the secluded airport of Kamakazi Inc. The owner, Steve Mikami, is the only living man who made a flight as a Kamakazi pilot. He parachuted. But we must leave these happy people and go back to the airport where the plane from France is just landing. Aboard this plush airplane is Luanna Jefferson, the singer of the recent hit Let Me Call You Sweetheart, (Cuz I Forgot Your Name) . Awaiting her arrival is Tim Smith, photographer of the year, who won tliis honor by photographing a stirring scene between two creatures from the Bronx Zoo, Aggie Joe Baboon. He is just one of the honored classmates for in the cafeteria of the airport sits Mary Lu Murray. Mary Lu made her latest film, Horse Woman , in which she did a tearjerking scene with Sugar Babe. She is bound for another Oscar from the Humane Society. In a booth next to our animal celebrity is Mary Agnes White Hip who is a model for the Playboy Magazine which advertises clothes on their way out. Next to Mary sits Myra Left Hand, who gained world recognition by creating the Yul Brenner hairdo. She is bald. We must leave the cafeteria to direct our attention to an incoming plane from Holland. The world famous girls' basketball team is arriving with their coach Bernard Covers Up. In the crowd is Robert Falls Down, sole star of the afternoon kiddie show Uncle Bob and his playmates . Bob is waiting to rush Buzzy will be the guest of honor along with Rosemary Zwer, who today is known among the bubble gummer set as the Surf Queen of Washed Out Beach. Waiting to rush these people to the studio is Carole Anderson, famed women speed car driver, and her side kick and mechanic, Mark Chandler, who designed the first high speed Super Sport Schwin Bike with a 389 , spokes that is. As her jet propelled car pulls out they are stopped at an exit where amidst the crowd looms a big sign Long Live The Class of 66 . 18 ID PREPARING TO make: a living PROBLEMS OF AMERICAN DEMOCRACY Under the direction of Mr. Boley, the Seniors are learning how to cope with problems of American Democracy. They were Rick Burris, Chuck Stewart, Paul Miller, Mary Lu Murray, and Linda Miller. Rick received a I rating at district on a solo and a II rating at state. Chuck received a I at district and was sick during state and was unable to participate. Paul, Linda, and Mary Lu received a I at district on a trio and a II at state.
