Time spent at home provides us with inspirational guidance. Time spent at school influences and enriches our lives. The bus is the connecting link which binds the home and school into a co-operative unit. Time is the theme of our yearbook. We salute it as one of the important factors at Lodge Grass High School. It is our sincere wish that this annual will become one of your most cherished possessions. May it help you recall memories of the happy times you have had. “Nothing is so precious as time.” 2 Administration and Faculty Superintendent’s Message Superintendent E. L. Moyer B.A. and B.E. degrees from the University of Washington. M.E. degree from the Montana State University. Mr. Moyer is Superintendent of Lodge Grass Schools and is Senior class sponsor. School Spirit As an automobile is made up of such component parts as chassis, engine, wheels, and tires, so too is school. School spirit is not just the rah, rah of the pep section, the singing of the school song, or the noisy demonstrations that sometimes occur in an assembly. Rather, it is the sum total of sincere endeavors to do every possible thing to improve and uphold the school program educationally and socially so as to most adequately meet the needs of the community. This objective can only be reached by the co-operative efforts of students and faculty. If you have joined in this effort for the common good, your many years as an alumnus of Lodge Grass High School will be proud to see our school grow more adequate and stronger for future generations. 4 SEATED, Left to Right: Holly Endicott, Eddie Nichols, Marian Miller, Scott Jeffers, Dale Gibson, Letha McGovern, Mike Hartman, and Dick Watt. Class History We were forty-five in number when we entered the halls of L.G.H.S. in 1954 to begin our high school careers. This was an exciting year. We found the teachers capable and friendly. After the sophomores had initiated us in the proper fashion, we felt that we were a real part of the student body. In 1955 with forty-two in our sophomore class, our memorable events were initiating the incoming freshmen and sponsoring the high school rodeo. Regular studies, music, athletics and allied activities took up our time. By 1956, when we were juniors, we began to realize that our time in high school was getting shorter. We found that we were kept busy with our class work and outside activities. Our class play, Curtain Going Up, was a success. In the spring, we honored the seniors with a Banquet and Prom emphasizing the Hawaiian theme carried out in effective color schemes. At last in 1957, we have thirty-six seniors. Time is even more important as we have decisions to make concerning our futures. Now we are putting out the annual and are looking forward to senior activities which will leave lingering memories. We are awaiting the moment when we shall receive our diplomas, the climax of four years work. And, departing, leave behind us footprints on the sands of time.” ROBERT BENJAMIN BRAZIER The gladdest words of tongue or pen; tonight there is a dance again. Industrial Arts Advisor Richard Pilch Industrial Arts give us manual skills and teach us to be capable and well coordinated. We design and make useful and artistic articles. In the spring we exhibit articles which we have made in individual projects. This gives us an incentive for competition. “There a Time for Some Things, and a Time for All Things; a Time for Great Things, and Time for Small Things. Wyoming's Largest Dept. We learn about general home management, child care, grooming, and other useful subjects. We have lab sessions where we sample each other's cooking - we have fun while we learn how to be efficient housekeepers. In a test. Josephine Murdock won first place in the Betty Crocker ALL AMERICAN Homemaker of Tomorrow contest. The FHA is the national organization of students studying homemaking in junior and senior high schools throughout the United States and its territories. Our primary goal is individual betterment. We sponsored the Dazy Maze week, climaxed by the Sadie Hawkins Dance. Last fall a group went to the district convention. Seven girls are currently working on their junior degrees. Four girls will attend the state convention. 38 Sponsored by the STOCKMAN CAFE, Hardin. Montana Operetta Miss Cherryblossom The operetta Miss CHERRYBLOSSOM was given February 24. Miss Evelyn Barns, an American girl born in Japan, whose parents died of the fever, is brought up as a Japanese maiden. Her father's secretary uses her property for his own ends. When Evelyn (Cheeryblossom) is about 18, Worthington returns to Japan on his yacht with a party of American friends. One of them, John Henry Smith, falls in love with Cherry and wishes to marry her, but Kokemo.who has brought her up as his own daughter, wants her to marry Togo, a rich politician. The action takes place around Jack's efforts to outwit Togo and Kokemo. Eventually Cherry learns her true identity, comes into her own property, marries Jack, and all ends happily. The students compete in selling tickets and the class which wins has the honor of having its candidate crowned Carnival Queen. This year when the magic hour approached, excitement ran high because identity of the queen is a well guarded secret. As the coronation procession formed, it was discovered that Holly Rae Kreiger, senior, was the queen. Her attendants were Lorraine Overturf, junior; Claudia Clanin, sophomore; and Mary Jean Eggart, freshman.
