'rtyttto'Uf Four years ago 27 cowpokes were corralled on the hill top to gain more knowledge to prepare themselves for the struggles of this modern world. Top cowpokes were Teresa Bear as president, Frank Foltz, Vice President, Diann Cooper, Secretary Treasurer, and Leona Waddell and Frank Foltz as Student Council representatives. The cowboys and cowgirls went through a gruelling initiation but like top cowhands, they survived the great ordeal. Head wagon-boss was Mrs. Alina Stevenson. The nest fall round-up six cowhands strayed away. These were Teresa Bear, Raymond Bear, Shirley Far Away, Shirley Iron Horse, Junaita Pease, and Joy Bird In Ground. They were replaced by Tommy Backbone, Tom Conroy, Jean Crosby, Louise Mereness, Newton Old Crow, Tommy Sun Goes Slow, Connie Small, and Vivian Old Horn. Our group consisted of 25 cowpokes. This year we had the privilege of making the freshies go through misery and did the job successfully with all our pleasure. Top cowhand bosses were: President, Frank Foltz, Vice President, Tom Conroy, Secretary Treasurer, Laura Ruth Miller, and our Student Council representative was Lola Ann Bond. Aiding us through our tough tasks of the year was Mr. Ken Conroy and Mr. Nees. Having another round-up the next fall we saw Jean Crosby, Louise Mereness, Tommy Sun Goes Slow, and Vivian Old Horn moving on to other pastures. They were replaced by five bronco busters: Teresa Bear, Clara Stewart, Jewel Medicine Horse, and Ray Bear. Riding high in the saddle was Leona Waddell as President, Teresa Bear as Vice President, Tom Conroy as Secretary Treasurer, and Lola Bond as Student Council Representative, We were mighty proud to present our rootin', tootin' class play, Meet Corliss Archer, and the Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet with a Winter Wonderland scene. The 27 cowpokes turned out to be a mighty top outfit. Leading us on was Mr. Saylor keeping us from going astray. The big drive began when 22 mighty foremen assembled for the last, and most remembered round-up. This year there were two of our classmates leaving us to do their duty for Uncle Sam, These were Newton Old Crow and Paul Spotted Hone. Esther Kaiser, who was with us for three years, transferred to Sheridan high where she is a top student. Others leaving the round-up were Evangeline Whiteman, Connie Small, and Ray Bear. A new cowpoke was sent out, Joan Bergerson. Swinging lariats were Lola Bond as President, Joan Bergerson as Vice President, Frank Foltz as Secretary Treasurer, and Leona Waddell as Student Council representative. The climax of our basketball season was our boys winning the District Championship and we were proud to have one of our classmates, Tom Conroy, on the team. We were honored by the annual Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet. Some of the main events of the year were numerous school parties, football homecoming, our play (the rough and rowdy, Hillbilly Wedding ), Senior sneak day, Senior Day, our class picnic. Kangaroo court, and last but best of all, our graduation day. Mr. Swinland was our faithful and patient guardian for the year. On May 22, 1953, we all gathered to gather our diplomas. Our four wonderful years at L. G. H. S. were well spent and with sad regrets we left it to look for greener pastures.

Pete Mason wills his quiet ways to Jack Shock. Tom Conroy wills his ability to be a good boy to Gary Curry and his training abilities to Bill Jappe. Joan Bergerson and Shirley Erickson will their sportsmanship ability to Agnes Lix and Dorene Boomer. Frank Foltz wills his ability to bore people to George Bonawitz. Paul Spotted Horse wills his bronc riding ability to Hugh Blacksmith and hopes that he can stay on longer than Paul did. Mick Stevens and Duane Roth will their brotherly love to Coach Nees and Chaps Lix. Darlene Paulsen wills her studious ways to everyone that spends most of their time goofing around. John Calvetti wills his books to Charles Murdock and hopes he wears the new off them. Leona Waddell wills her late hours to LuElla Mae Faught and Sandra Jappe and hopes they can stay awake longer than she. Carole Chatham wills her letter writing ability to Barbara Chatham and hopes she can keep up with her. Mary George wills her ability to drive on six lane highways to Edna George and hopes that she can do as well as she. Janet Chatham wills her plump figure to Margaret Metcalf and hopes that she can attract as much attention as Janet did. Lola Bond and Ramona Roth will their ability to go steady to Lillian Millspaugh and Dorothy Moore. Jewel Medicine Horse wills her black hair to Eula Roth and hopes it will put an end to her bleaching problems. The Senior Class wills to die Freshmen our ability to pick up knick-knacks along the way for school functions and hope they don't get caught like we did. To the Sophomores, the Senior Class wills their ability to co-operate and stick together. To the Juniors, the Seniors will their beloved journalism teacher, Mr. Walz, and hope they get by with as little work and trouble as we did.
