Top cowpokes were Teresa Bear as president, Frank Foltz, Vice President, Diann Cooper, Secretary Treasurer, and Leona Waddell and Frank Foltz as Student Council representatives. The cowboys and cowgirls went through a gruelling initiation but like top cowhands, they survived the great ordeal. Head wagon-boss was Mrs. Alina Stevenson. The nest fall round-up six cowhands strayed away. These were Teresa Bear, Raymond Bear, Shirley Far Away, Shirley Iron Horse, Junaita Pease, and Joy Bird In Ground. They were replaced by Tommy Backbone, Tom Conroy, Jean Crosby, Louise Mereness, Newton Old Crow, Tommy Sun Goes Slow, Connie Small, and Vivian Old Horn. Our group consisted of 25 cowpokes. This year we had the privilege of making the freshies go through misery and did the job successfully with all our pleasure. Top cowhand bosses were: President, Frank Foltz, Vice President, Tom Conroy, Secretary Treasurer, Laura Ruth Miller, and our Student Council representative was Lola Ann Bond. Aiding us through our tough tasks of the year was Mr. Ken Conroy and Mr. Nees. Having another round-up the next fall we saw Jean Crosby, Louise Mereness, Tommy Sun Goes Slow, and Vivian Old Horn moving on to other pastures. They were replaced by five bronco busters: Teresa Bear, Clara Stewart, Jewel Medicine Horse, and Ray Bear. Riding high in the saddle was Leona Waddell as President, Teresa Bear as Vice President, Tom Conroy as Secretary Treasurer, and Lola Bond as Student Council Representative, We were mighty proud to present our rootin', tootin' class play, Meet Corliss Archer, and the Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet with a Winter Wonderland scene. The 27 cowpokes turned out to be a mighty top outfit. Leading us on was Mr. Saylor keeping us from going astray. The big drive began when 22 mighty foremen assembled for the last, and most remembered round-up. This year there were two of our classmates leaving us to do their duty for Uncle Sam, These were Newton Old Crow and Paul Spotted Hone. Esther Kaiser, who was with us for three years, transferred to Sheridan high where she is a top student. Others leaving the round-up were Evangeline Whiteman, Connie Small, and Ray Bear. A new cowpoke was sent out, Joan Bergerson. Swinging lariats were Lola Bond as President, Joan Bergerson as Vice President, Frank Foltz as Secretary Treasurer, and Leona Waddell as Student Council representative. The climax of our basketball season was our boys winning the District Championship and we were proud to have one of our classmates, Tom Conroy, on the team. We were honored by the annual Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet. Some of the main events of the year were numerous school parties, football homecoming, our play (the rough and rowdy, Hillbilly Wedding ), Senior sneak day, Senior Day, our class picnic. Kangaroo court, and last but best of all, our graduation day. Mr. Swinland was our faithful and patient guardian for the year. On May 22, 1953, we all gathered to gather our diplomas. Our four wonderful years at L. G. H. S. were well spent and with sad regrets we left it to look for greener pastures. $ 44 70(U Teresa Bear wills her typing ability to anyone who can keep it. The reunion is to be held at the Lakeside Yacht Club tomorrow afternoon at 3 p. m. We were joined at the airport by two former classmates, Tom Conroy, the singing sensation of the United States, and Pete Mason, retired multi-millionaire whose residence is in California. Pete told us he acquired his fortune by selling vitamin pills over Clint, Texas. We settled down to a pleasant trip by reminiscing. As we were flying over the Big Horn Mountains our plane developed engine trouble. The pilot informed us that he would have to make a forced landing at Wyola, Montana. We landed safely and were joined by Jewel Medicine Horse. She is on a vacation from her duties as head nurse at the Crow Agency Hospital. The plane was repaired and we continued our trip. At 4:27 p.m. we arrived at the Municipal Airport in Lodge Grass. We were greeted by Duane Roth who owns the airport and raises horses as a sideline. He chauffeured us to the Lakeside Yacht Club where we were to reside while in Lodge Grass. Swank, cool, and comfortable Lakeside, owned by Leona Waddell, is the most up-to-date hotel and night club in the Northwest. After freshening up Leona took us to the premier opening of Beautiful Haven, ” which was filmed on the fabulous Foltz Cattle Ranch owned by Frank Foltz. The picture is playing at the Cresent Drive-In Theater owned by Shirley Erickson. She gave us free passes in honor of the occasion. Upon returning to the Club we were told that Lola Bond and Darlene Paulsen had checked in during our absences. We hastened to their room to say hello! Lola's residence is in Alaska with her husband, and Darlene Paulsen is now die president of the Bell Telephone Company. May 25, 1963 Dear Diary, Imagine our surprise when we saw how Lodge Grass had grown! Couldn’t resist a sight seeing tour, and the Captol building was our first stop. We had hoped to talk with Teresa Bear, secretary to the President, but she was in private conference. Teresa is residing at the Governor's Mansion in Lodge Grass. At the Capitol we met John Calvetti, four star general, who is head of the Department of Defense. He had dropped in to say hello. After lunch we returned to the Club to dress for the reunion. On the way we passed the Post Office where a large poster advertising a coming rodeo was on display. The World Champion Bareback Rider, Paul Spotted Horse was to appear. We immediately made plans to attend. A fter an invigorating shower 3 p. m. found us refreshed and ready to greet the members of our class. Two of our members hadn't arrived—giving us a chance to visit. Clarence Stevens told us he was doing well on his ranch and that Janet Chatham was an excellent housekeeper. Mrs. Raymond Smith (nee Ramona Roth), one of our hostesses, told us she and her husband had a ranch near Lodge Grass. Guess who we found at the punch bowl— Joan Bergerson who is a successful dental technician. Mrs. Richard Chatham (nee Mary George) and Mrs. Paul Wiley (nee Carole Chatham) arrived at 3:30. Mary explained that she had trouble getting her four sons to take their naps. The boys were too busy playing with Carole's two children. May 26. 1963 Dear Diary, We slept late, then ate a hearty breakfast before attending the rodeo. Later, we bade our friends good-bye and boarded our plane—I, Diann Cooper to return to Las Vegas, Nevada for my new show at the Flamingo Club and I, Laura Ruth to Australia where my husband and I own a cattle ranch.
