CLASS HISTORY It was a beautiful day, bright and sunny, as nine curious students strolled into Lodge Grass High School to start their second phase of education. The week following enrollment, the Sophomores pounced upon us with untold fury. However, like all “Greenies” we survived this great ordeal. Our class officers were, Stanford Lynde, President; Lucille Nichols, Vice-President; and Clara Ann Pease, Secretary and Treasurer. Our Advisor for the year was Miss Lix. After the first semester, Bruce Powers and Darlene Clark joined our class. As a part of the High School Entertainment Program, the class presented a skit entitled, ‘‘Easter Parade.” As the year drew to a close we took a day off from our hard grind, and went on a picnic. At last the long-awaited event was here. We were Sophomores and with it a chance to regain our dignity, lost during the past year by humiliating the “Freshies.” After we had quenched our desire for torture and had made them as ridiculous as possible, we very kindly gave them a party. Officers for the year were; Stanford Lynde, President; Keith Holley, Vice-President; and Erie Gross, Secretary and Treasurer. Mrs. Stevenson, was our Advisor. During the year Virginia Rasmussen and Ataloa Hogan joined our class. A Halowe’en party was held for the high school and the annual school picnic was held on Upper Lodge Grass Creek. The Interschool Basketball Tournament was won by the Sophomore team. Having gained much knowledge and obtained a certain amount of prestige we now were classified as Upperclassmen. When the roll was taken it was found that the class had lost Darlene Clark and Gerald Barnes, but had acquired Bill Meister and Donna Kennedy. Being Juniors, we knew that we had a great deal of work to do. A play must be given and a prom must be planned. The play was a three-act comedy, entitled ‘‘The Blundering Herd.” Under the direction of E.J. Albrecht the play was given successfully, altho a snow storm hindered capacity attendance. The officers for the year were; Lucille Nichols, President; Erie Gross, Vice-President; and Clara Ann Pease, Secretary and Treasurer. Mrs. Swanson was appointed class Sponsor and under her guidance a most successful Junior-Senior Prom was given. The theme was a flower garden enclosed in a white picket fence adorned with sweetpeas, roses, and carnations. The flowers were made by the girls and the fence was constructed by the boys. Preceding the Prom a banquet was given in honor of the Seniors and Juniors. As we turned the last corner and started the last lap of our secondary learning it was apparent that two of our classmates had dropped out. Bill Meister had gone back to school at Loveland, Colorado, and Donna Kennedy had dropped out of school to go to work. Being Seniors, we were faced with the responsibility of publishing ‘‘The Little Horn Overflow,” and the Annual as well as presenting the Senior Class Play, “The Poor Rich.” Officers for the year were. Keith Holley; President; Dannie Felde, Vice-President; and Standford Lynde, Secretary and Treasurer. The Juniors honored the class with a banquet and prom. Inasmuch as the school term ended June fourth, graduation was held May 26. Solemnly, but with hopeful hearts we received our diplomas and stood, anxious and ready to go forth to find our place in the sun.
