64 No school band program could long en- dure without a Hfeeder systemn that starts with the beginning band. The primary purpose of the beginning band program is to start students on instru- ments, teach them fingering, note read- ing, and rhythm counting. This is the initial experience in playing on a mus- ical instrument for the students and, therefore, must be one of individual en- joyment as well as instructive. In the beginning band, the student learns to cooperate with his fellow students and enjoys making and playing music as a group effort. CADET BAND BEGINNER'S BAND The Cadet Band is the second step in our musical organization. This band is the developing stage where students learn to play more difficult rhythm patterns, to im- prove individual technique, and to enjoy the benefits of a full band experience. Clinton Story, Band Instructor All elementary pupils have the advantage of regular instruction in art. Many beautiful art ob- jects are designed and made at all grade levels.
