Class Prophecy By Edith Johnson Let us climb into our newest airplane and go see a, movie this evening, entitled Senior Class of 1934. Each picture will be of one or more members of this class. I wonder what each of the dignified seniors of 1934 is doing? The first picture is of a hospital, the largest in Iowa, located at Lockridge. Who is that with the white coat and apron? Well, if it isn't Nathan Elliott, a surgeon. He is about to perform a serious operation of the brain. We always knew he had steady hands, but who would have thought him a surgeon? The next picture is of a large dairy barn. Close by are trucks. Ivan Aronson the owner, is loading milk cans in one truck. His is the largest dairy near Lockridge. It is a bright, sunshiny day and contented cows browse near by. Now we see a picture of a warm, tropical region. Who of the class of '34 would be down there? Well, if it isn't Erma Zillman, a missionary, and just as jolly as ever. She is about four inches taller and fifty pounds heavier than she was in our school days. Now we see a picture of fertile fields with cattle and sheep grazing in the distance. Whose farm can this be? It belongs to Everett Bogner, who has spent four years at Ames and is now trying some of the theories he learned there. He is still as good natured as he always was. We now see a huge locomotive, bells ringing and smoke pouring out of the smoke stack. Who is the engineer? It is Laurence Gohn. See him waving at some pretty girls at a crossing. Who would have thought the shy boy we knew in school would become a fiirt? The next picture we see is a ward in a hospital. There is Edith Johnson, dressed in the usual white. She is attending a very sick patient. She is head nurse. We always thought that with her steady nerves and kind heart she would be engaged in such work. The next picture is of a prize fighter, Gayle Heater. He is about eight inches taller and sixty pounds heavier than we remember him and is knock- ing them over in the heavy weight division. Next we see a giant monoplane and Virgle Smithburg with his good natured smile standing beside it. He is a licensed pilot and has piled up hundreds of flying hours without an accident. This is a picture of some one with ear phones on. Is she deaf? No, it is Maxine Nelson, a telephone operator in Tony Carlson's new sky scraper. She has served here five years and Tony says, Miss Nelson is the best operator I ever had. Now we see a large motorcycle factory. Handsome Herbert Smithburg
