M. gfl SS OFFICE d 1 ENIOR CU' S O'Brien, Vlfe Pfef' e At graduation time, the new graduates, the Class of 1960, looked back over their three years at Lockport Senior High School with varied ' emotions. They remembered fondly the fall of 1957 when , as green sophomores, they braved the ordeal of becoming familiar with a new school and faculty. This hurdle over, the sophs tried to prove their worth to the school by pre- senting the annu l T a alent Show. At last they felt truly a part of the school, for the upperclassmen voted to keep the Class of '60 at L.S.H.S. The Junior year H958-591 passed quickly for the Class of 1960. Now accus- tomed to the traditions of the school, they eagerly participated in the many activities offered to them, and became an important part of life at L.S.H.S All this and so .much more was re- membered by the class of 1960 as, on June 27, they received their d' l ip omas and sang farewell to their Alma Mater. 19 1961 33 , V z i , uveen yfeasurer. Mo Throughout the school year, members of the Class of 1960 were greatly in evidence, in positions of leadership and responsibility. As in former years, seniors competently filled the offices of Student Council presi- dent and trea surer, and were to be found in executive capacities in many other school organizations. Capably leading the Class of 1960 during its final year at L.S.H.S. were Doug Lux, Maureen O'Brien, Patricia Pechuman and Bonnie Bartholomew in the offices of pre- sident, vice-president, secretary, and trea- surer. The executive board supervised such traditional senior activities as the Holly Hop, measuring for caps and gowns and- the Senior Play. The month of June found the seniors enjoying their class picnic, Class Day, the long-awaited Senior Prom and, finally, their Graduation Exercises. The cries of Gold's been discovered! and It's toga time! still echoed throughout the school halls as the campaigns of the Gold and Blue Parties drew to a close. Voting culminated an exciting election week with the selection of Donald Stotts, presi- dent, James Herzog, vice-president, Joyce Meikle- john, secretaryg and Gerald Martin, treasurer. Expert guidance was provided by Mr. Frank Vogel, the council advisor. The Council is the leading organization illus- trating the self-government allowed the student of Lockport Senior High School. This is composed of all homeroom presidents who represent the student body in the action taken on all matters which affect both the school and the students Soon the speeches the bands and the hilarious assembly were forgotten as the Council took over the more serious responsibility of our annual Magazine Drive which proved to be a tremendous success The next Job on the agenda was the apportion mg of funds to the student organizations through out the school Each club submitted a requisition and had a member present to explain its budget and the reasons behind it The Council proved to be very wise and efficient in the distribution of funds Through the many and var1ed projects of the Student Council it has been possible to acquaint the students with the responsibilities and demands of a representative position This training better equips them to meet the challenges of adult life and therefore serves as an invaluable experience ,111 Do Slotts cond cis c St de I 71 a 1 . 7 Y N .
