All music courses are elective, but in some you have to meet certain requirements. The Glee Club is one division in which everyone may participate. It meets once a week. The Choir is a selected group of sixty voices. Each year they enter the contest at Miami. This year ranking No. 1 in the District and are privileged to go into the final. Also in the field of singing talent, there are two triple trios, and octette, also ranking first in District, and many soloists of which took first in voice another on baritone instrumental solos. Playing a colorful part during football season, the band also gives a spring concert every year. The orchestra is a small group but is high in quality. At many of the school dances and at all the plays presented at Lockland, their music is welcomed. During the past year Mr. Elliott combined all of his department in the presenta- tion of the enjoyable Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance. The well rounded musical program presented at Lockland is due to the hard work and ambition of Mr. Elliott. For the first time in many years. Lockland presented Gilbert and Sullivan's opera, The Pirates of Penzance. A chorus was chosen from the choir, and was made up of very excellent voices. The persons cast in the leads were as follows: Frederick, Bill Cress, Mabel, juanita Van Nest, Pirate King, Everett Lykins, Major General, Ned Martin, Samuel, Tommy Buck, Sergeant, Bob Lichtenberg, Edith, Stella Daniels, Kate, Ruth Patterson, Isabelle, Nancy Schmidtg Maid, joan Martin. Mrs. Elliott had charge of the costumes and Miss Aber the speech work. Their hard work and capable direction of Mr. Elliott, made this the outstanding pro- duction of the year. 59 I CHOIR I-zrrr R0 left I0 Rlqlr R Coffcx S Camels Bcmsh N Barnes C Roth 5 Xlerkt P urrcc P Chffa.
