THE BOARD OF EDUCATION n this page the- 35 annual carried a worthy... ge from the President of the School Board to the pupils of the l-ligh Schooland to the general public. This 36 Staff desires to use this space to review some of the projects in which the Board has been greatly interested and to express the appreciation of the student body for this interest, M Soon after the opening of school in September the Federal Government under the Works Progress Administration project, began to redecorate and repair the school buildings. This work will be almost completed by the close of this school year. All possible cooperation has been given by the pupils and teachers in promoting this work, Although a shift in our schedule was made almost daily very few classes were dismissed because of this work, Many improvements have been made at little direct cost to the community. Due to the efforts of the l.ockland School lVlen's Club and the Board of Edu- cation, our school will soon have one of the finest Athletic fields in the valley. Early last year the Lockland School lvlen's Athletic Club Company transferred the Athletic field to the Board of Education and immediate steps were taken to add improvements. The most significant was the lighting of the field for night football games. The Board had a very important part'in sponsoring and assisting financially in this project. ln addition to this direct work an additional W. P. A. project was requested for drainage, leveling and fencing this field, The work is now nearing com- pletion, and it is hoped to rededicate this field early in the football season of '36, A future federal project plans a field house and stone fence along Wyoming Avenue. The staff in behalf of the entire student body, takes this opportunity to thank the members of the Board of Education for the continued interest and for the work accomplished and in progress, Any school city is fortunate in having a group of experienced men to guide its destiny over these important years, Too much credit cannot be given them. Their task is not an easy one. These men serve without remuneration and oftentimes with- out praise. The Class of '36 feels indebted to these men and desires to express its appreciation for the many favors received during its high school life. The present Board was organized on lanuary l, l936, as follows: l. W. Sullivan, Presidentg Fred A. Lierman, Vice Presidentg Thomas C. Berger, Clerk-Treasurerg Bert l-lockmuth, Walter lVliller. ' E41
