HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF 1937 n September, l933, one hundred and twenty-five freshmen enrolled in classes at l.. H. S. After our initiation into high school activities, we settled down ,to a humdrum life of studies. Our class was well represented on all athletic teams, especially in football. We placed one girl on the basketball squad, also. On March l, we gave a very successful minstrel for the benefit of the Dictograph. Later in the year we gave another minstrel, which was just as good as the first one. Our class officers were: Raymond Bauer, President, George Hilliard, Vice President, Ruth Meyer, Secretary, and Douglas Hitt, Treasurer, We selected as our class colors, .blue and white, and our motto, Vincit Qui l.aborat, ll-le conquers who laborsl. The entire class agreed that it had been a successful year, Q When we reentered as Sophomores, there were about eighty-five of us left. This year we triumphed in athletics, placing eight men on the football squad, two on the basketball team, seven on the track team, and one on the baseball team. Nine girls won places on the girls' basketball team. Our class officers were: Ray- mony Bauer, President, Radford Wade, Vice President, Esther Moore, Secretary, and Douglas Hitt, Treasurer. Entering L. H. S. as juniors in September, l93S, we faced a year of work. We quickly organized and selected Radford Wade as class President, Margaret Booth, Vice President, Florence Simms, Secretary, and George Hilliard, Treasurer. Again our class excelled in sports, putting eleven men ori the football team, five on the basketball team and several on the track and baseball teams. Honor Bright, the lunior play, was presented on April l4, and was acclaimed a huge success. The junior-Senior Prom was given early in lune and was enjoyed by all who were present. There are only about sixty of us left, but with such a fine history as we- have, we are sure that the traditions of L. H, S. will be carried on better than they have ever been before.
