THE SPIRIT OF ATHLETICS uring the past year 'Lockland l-ligh School revived the old athletic spirit. Due to the combined efforts of the athletic department, the Board of Education, and a great number of interested citizens of the community the installation of lighting equipment for the football field was brought to pass. This equipment as fine as any high school possesses, furnishes 60,000 watts of light which makes the entire playing field brightly illuminated, and permits spectators to follow the course of the game with utmost comfort. V Spurred on by the efficiency of this equipment the football team played eight brilliant games for night crowds, the largest ever to attend high school athletic contests in the Mill Creek Valley. Of these games, six were won by the boys and two were lost, one by one point, the other by one touchdown. At the end of the season the record was seven games won, three games lost. And along with this record came the Mill Creek Valley Championship trophy Following the successful football season came a successful basketball season in which after a slow start our basketball boys came along to tie Reading and Wyoming for the championship of M. V. l, LW 1 At present writing our baseball team seems to be sure to win the champion- ships trophy in the M. V, lt L. g Perhaps the greatest revival of all is in track, in which sport the team has already demonstrated its ability by winning one meet so decisively that all three trophies given were brought to Lockland. Great hopes are aroused for not only a lvlill Creek Valley championship but a state championship as well. We sincerely hope that the spirit now revived may continue to live and thrive and spread its good influence through the school and community, V .gy E71 I .,
