Badminton requires good tim- ing and fast footwork. Players must also have endurance, dex- terity and stamina. This year Loara had two teams that were comprised of sixty players and two excellent coaches. Togeth- er they made it look much ea- sier than it actually is. Hard work and close team relation- ships led our team through a smashing season, crushing many of their opponents. BADMINTON SERVES UP A SUPER SMASHING SEASON

During the season, the girls ' cross country runners consis- tently pushed themselves to do better. Their coach, Dave Smith, gave them guidance and support through- out the season. At the Pacifica Invita- ional, Dawn Bowman tinished third and Maria Fuentes tinished tourth out ot a total of seventy-five runners. At a meet in which Loara beat Eldorado, Teresa Reeves came in fourth, and Kel- ly Graton finished fifth. At all meets, Dawn Bowman and Maria Fuentes fin- ished in the top five. At their banquet, Maria Fuentes received an award for most valuable runner and Dawn Bow- man received the Coaches ' Award. The team finished the season with a one and four record, but the record doesn ' t always show the true effort put forth by the team. CROSS COUNTRY 70
