The 1988-89 season proved to be a fantastic year for Boys ' Cross Country at Loara. In addition to the honors giv- en to Loara ' s team as a whole, many runners on the team received individual awards. Jose Pineda came in first place at League Finals after setting a league record and course record for running three miles in 17.08 minutes. The varsity team was led by runners Miguel Ga- lindo and Efren Jaime, who helped the team to achieve third place at the Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach Invitationals and second place at the Pacifica and Costa Mesa Invitationals. As a whole, the varsity team came in fourth place, the jv team tied for first place, and the frosh soph team placed second in league finals. , Bart Schafer concentrates on his running strategy. 2.
