Attention, athletes. If you are a Varsity Letterman in any sport, you are qualified to join the Lettermen ' s Club. Advisor Coach Moore is always looking for a few good men and women to join this active club. This was the third consecutive year for the club. The goals of the Lettermen ' s Club are to support athletic programs, to alert members to avail- able scholarships, and to serve the school. For example, this year during Christmas, members of the Lettermen ' s Club decorated the campus. In addition, the club traveled to Burbank to watch a taping of the television shew Card Sharks. 1. 186 LETTERMEN TUTORS: ACTIVE AND INVOLVED A re you lagging behind in school? Are you frustrated with math, English, or . science? Are you burdened with diffi- cult exams? Don ' t worry; help is just around the corner in the library. The newly formed Peer Tutoring Club met with struggling stu- dents three days a week after school. The Peer Tutor Club consisted of ten students who excelled in a particular field of study. The Peer Tutor Club was the newest club on campus. The advisors were Mr. Barron and Mrs. Ballou. This was the first program ever to be introduced at Loara by which students help other students with their studies. The program was sponsored by Denny ' s and re- quired no fees from the students. 188 KEY CLUB INCREASES SPIRIT AND DEDICATION This is only the second year the Key Club had been at Loara. They jumped from a mere 26 charter mem- bers their first year to staggering 130 indivi- duals this year. Donna Perry was the faculty adviser during both years. This year ' s offi- cers were Duy Nguyen, President; Jennifer Smietana, Vice-President; Camelia Mazard, Secretary; Augustina Norris. Treasurer. There were also many directors who volun- teered their time to head some of the major projects undertaken by our Key Club. The word Key is an acronym for Kiwanis Educates Youth. Kiwanis Interna- tional founded the first Key Club, and is now the sponsor of Key Clubs throughout the four
