New this year to Loara ' s campus was the Saxons for a Safe and Sober Society. The lofty objectives of this austere organization center around the goal of a drug-free soci- ety. To achieve this goal, the club used such tactics as increasing awareness of anti-drug activities and coping strategies for those who are addicted to drugs or alcohol. The club made known other people who are against drugs and alcohol by means of meetings, speakers, and written materials. The founding president of the club was Ja- mie Potter who was aided by advisor Cora Johnson. Members this year included Tammy Pigmon, Michelle Garrow, Andrea Waters, Yvette Mikina, Rhonda Washburn, and Chris Peterson. The team watches on intently as Tarman answers a question during a practice game against the school. 2. With a mass firing of neurons in his cranium. 174 DIVERSE CLUBS PROVIDE y NICHE FOR INDIVIDUALS Question: What Loara team requires exten- sive knowledge, quick reflexes, and a loud mouth? Answer: Kiwanis Bowl. Although only seen once a year by most of the school, this dedi- cated group of scholars prepares for months to participate in a forty-school play-off held in March. The team also looks forward to challenging the school for an entire day, tak- ing on teams from many classes. Under the direction of Linda Esping, the team consist- ed of ten members: Captain Richard Maier and Matt Marcotte, both returning team members; Scott Talkovic, In Sik Rhee, Tar- man Aziz, Dong Kim, Kelly Clark, Bill Norris, Melissa Cannon, and Chris Davis.

Pendant la nuit internationale, le club a participe dans un spectacle de mode, cree par Michelle Farrell. D ' autres activites qui ont eu beau- coup de succes sont la fete de Noel et la vente des candy-grams.
