least a sophomore who has earned a mini- mum of ten points in college prepatory courses. These points are based on an A grade being worth three points and a B worth one point. At the end of each year, CSF awards one or more scholarships to its members. During this year, approximately 125 stu- dents were eligible, but only 30-40 became members. CSF is one of Loara ' s more diffi- cult clubs to be a part of, but new students are always welcomed. The 1988- 1989 National Honor Society members proudly smile for the camera. The NHS officers: In Sik Rhee (President), Angeli- que Habis (Vice President), Dong Kim (Secretary), Clive Liu (Treasurer). Duy. Vince, and David seem to be quite pleased with the meeting. The 19881989 California Scholarship Federation members. Angle and Kim feel this is the only hip club on campus. Mr Nicholson, CSF advisor, gets ready for the next CSF meeting. 170 CSF AND NHS MEMBERS ACHIEVE TOP RANKING California Scholarship Federation and National Honor Society are two pres- tigious clubs offered at Loara. Both have their own eligibility requirements. NHS is led by a hard-working teacher, Mr. Larry Klevos. Every member has maintained a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher throughout the four years in high school. The club is reserved only for seniors who have achieved high scholastic standing. CSF is led by two dedicated advisors, Mr. Ted Nicholson and Mrs. Diane Miller, who took on this challenge about ten years ago. To be eligible for CSF, a student must be at three

The average Loara student might say Geeks of America Trying to Educate them- selves, but GATE Club is a group of people who are Galiant, Attractive, Talented, and Educated. These fine young adults have been around the world. Well, maybe not the world, but at least Catalina, Griffith Park Ob- servatory, and the Los Angeles Zoo. All who participated in these events had a wonderful time. Along with these trips, the club jour- neyed to the Buena Vista Convalescent Hos- pital to bring holiday cheer to Anaheim ' s older residents. three four
