88-89 SAXON DRILL TEAM TRIPS THE LIGHT FANTASTIC ? ■ eight The 1988-89 Drill Team once again proved their talents to be amazing un- der the leadership of Debbie Lowery, Andrea Pensavalle, Wendy Howard, and Katy Val- dez. Mrs. Stephanie Schroeder, their advisor, was not hesitant at all to explain how proud she was of the Drill Team this year. There was much dedication put forth by the girls to clinch titles and obtain sweepstakes in competitions. El Modena was their first com- petition, at which the Drill Team took first place. Later, the team won sweepstakes and first place in many other competitions. The girls spent a lot of time perfecting their routines. This perfection was amply and often demon- strated in the field and parade performances. I ' m so happy about the unity of our team, stated Head Leader Debbie Lowery. All the girls are great to work with, and their hard practice has paid off in competitions. Most of all, the close friendships and good times made it a great year. This year ' s Drill Team has achieved the respect of many students on campus and de- serves to be recognized as a valuable part of Loara ' s winning tradition. 157
