88-89 CHAMBER SINGERS MUSIC IS THEIR PASSION Chamber Singers may have sported a new look this year, ladies in gowns and men in tails, but the group dis- played the same commitment and sensitivity to uphold and en- hance the tradition ot excellence which has made them number one! Chamber Singers were again prominent in their festival ap- pearances at Chapman College, Biola University, and Fullerton College. Their annually hosted SCVA festival featured a touring high school choir from West Ger- many. For the third year in a row, Chamber Singers won the Park Newport Carol Festival in De- cember, a feat no school as ac- complished before. This year ' s tour covered Cen- tral and Northern California, in- cluding Fresno, San Francisco, Sacramento, and Lake Tahoe. They competed in the Concord Festival for the first time, where the first place was $1000 cash. Their active fundraising sched- ule, including a great all-school lip sync contest, gave them the funds for their tremendous tour. Six Chamber Singers made the Southern California All-State Choir. They were Renee Ahearn, Natasha Franko, Steve Hull, Brenda Pacheco, Jeff Thies- meyer, and Amie Walton. 149

LOARA ' S CHOIRS PRESENTS EXCITING SAXON SOUNDS The Concert Choir and the Women ' s Ensemble had an active year, performing in concerts, festivals and compe- titions. The Choral Department has improved during the three years Mr. Tuttle has taught at Loara. He is also in charge of the Southern California Honor Choir and helps teach the California All-State Choir. This year ' s Women ' s Ensem- ble is the most spirited and vocal- ly strong group I ' ve had since coming to Loara. This is how Mr. Tuttle described his dedi- cated singers. They came to sing and practice in zero period every day to avoid schedule conflicts. They participated in various events such as the Fall Concert, Annual Holiday Concert, the Spring musical production, and the Annual Roses Concert in June. In addition, they performed in the Anaheim District Festival, and at a SCVA Women ' s Choir Festival. Loara ' s Concert Choir had an- other progressive and rewarding year. They continued the tradi- tions of quality and hard work for which our Concert Choir has been known. In addition to the same schedule as the Women ' s Ensemble, they appeared at the graduation ceremonies. At the Holiday Concert, the Concert Choir and our other choirs pre- sented the Hallelujah Chorus with the Loara Concert Band. Throughout the year, the Concert Choir and the Women ' s Ensem- ble sang diverse music which in- cluded classical, rock, popular, easy listening, and folk music. 151
