88-89 CHAMBER SINGERS MUSIC IS THEIR PASSION Chamber Singers may have sported a new look this year, ladies in gowns and men in tails, but the group dis- played the same commitment and sensitivity to uphold and en- hance the tradition ot excellence which has made them number one! Chamber Singers were again prominent in their festival ap- pearances at Chapman College, Biola University, and Fullerton College. Their annually hosted SCVA festival featured a touring high school choir from West Ger- many. For the third year in a row, Chamber Singers won the Park Newport Carol Festival in De- cember, a feat no school as ac- complished before. This year ' s tour covered Cen- tral and Northern California, in- cluding Fresno, San Francisco, Sacramento, and Lake Tahoe. They competed in the Concord Festival for the first time, where the first place was $1000 cash. Their active fundraising sched- ule, including a great all-school lip sync contest, gave them the funds for their tremendous tour. Six Chamber Singers made the Southern California All-State Choir. They were Renee Ahearn, Natasha Franko, Steve Hull, Brenda Pacheco, Jeff Thies- meyer, and Amie Walton. 149
