136 This year ' s spirit week brought out excitement and spirit that has rarely been seen. The festivities started with multiple dress-up days and noon-time activities. As if that were not enough, class competi- tion added to the enthusiasm. Each day, students participated in these activities as they eagerly anticipated the following days. Monday was sports day. This was a new activity and was quite successful. The Saxons pro- gressed through the week with Tuesday being the appropriately named California day. On this day we all came as we were be- cause, after all, we are California kids! Wednesday was a day of mirror images — twins day, which brought out massive in- volvement. This year the mighty senior class wore white t-shirts and jeans to show their spirit. Go- ing back a little further in time, on Thursday we had Fifties Day. Last but not least, the ever-popu- lar Friday was a day to be in red and gold. Love those Saxon col- ors! During lunch, students were entertained with noontime activi- ties. Each class had to be repre- sented at the activity to compete for spirit points. Some activities included the tennis ball carry and grass skiing. The week went well and ended with something radi- cally different, the homecoming assembly, which was the best one Loara has ever had! three WE ' RE CAPTURED, HEARTS AND SOULS, WITH SPIRIT

138 Homecoming? What ' s that? Is that when the old timers come back to high school? Is that when the teachers and faculty dance and sing? That ' s right! It ' s Homecom- ing ' 88! Watch out, Star Search. This is Loara ' s Homecoming As- sembly! As alumni and students gath- ered in the gym, the beautiful women, talented singers, and dancers were preparing for the next best thing to homemade cookies and milk, Loara ' s Home- coming Assembly. As the crowd went wild, the performers hit the main floor. They sang and danced to such favorites as Don ' t Be Cruel, Hate Myself For Loving You, Locomotion, Sweet Child 0 ' Mine, and The Twist. The crowd reacted by singing and dancing along with the performers. The crowd ' s participation was outrageous! As we all know, the gym was filled with more than just loud music and dancing; it was filled with spirit and pride. As this spectacular homecom- ing assembly came to an end, we were reminded of the great times we ' ve had at Loara. We, the class of ' 89, the last of the Eight- ies, want to say, Thank you, Loara, for the great memories. HOMECOMING ASSEMBLY STARS LOARA ' S FACULTY
