THE 88-89 V. TO SUCCESS SONC SOAR GRACEFULLY Hearing the words Go Big Red! at assemblies and athletic events fired up all Saxons throughout the year. The presence of the Varsity Song Leaders ' energetic, acro- batic performances made a tre- medous impact on assemblies and other school activities. Ronda Ward, the advisor of the Varsity Song Leaders, stated The Song Leaders this year are outstanding dancers. They have lots of experience and they are very dedicated to their best ef- fort. The 88-89 squad, consisting of ten seniors and two juniors, re- ceived a Superior Trophy at the U.S.A. Camp at Santa Barbara. We are more united this year compared to last year, re- marked senior Joanne Chang. Dawn Swartwood, one of two ju- niors on the squad, said, Being a song leader is lot of fun, and it was the best experience I ' ve had so far at Loara. The Varsity Song Leaders of 88-89 consisted of Yvette Brink, Michelle Callin, Joanne Chang. Lisa Delgado, Marilyn Fields, Denise Gardner, Ellen Kao, Annie Kaye, Yoonie Kim, Misty Perry, Dawn Swartwood, and Erica Tucker. 133
