110 TRACK TEAMS FLY PAST CONTENDERS AT MEETS The Loara Track Team: running along the road of life is what these dedi- cated humans do. Such a competitive sport, so challenging, yet so enjoy- able. On the surface it seems to be just a bunch of people running around on clay with little metal things on the bottoms of their shoes. But when one looks beneath the surface, one finds track is teeming with a variety of fascinating activities: the long jump, the high jump, the pole vault, the shot put, the discus, the hurdles, and a veritable cornucopia of long-distance running events. The practices were long and vigorous, but under the careful ministrations of Head Coach Smith and Coaches Blanton, Honda, Cox, Black, and Kay, the team did swimmingly. Track is an extremely taxing sport; but because of the outfits, one can get tan and, in the words of the talented and unique Greg Ramsay, Track is some fun stuff to do when you ' re at school. Greg Wood and other juniors sum it up in two words: Team 90. And Chris Snelling shed a grateful, positive light on track saying, I am proud to have been a part of Loara track because it has taught me respect and discipline . And there you have it, friends and neighbors. Team sports rose to the occasion and made us proud. Way to go, Loara!
