SAXON X30LF TEAM PUTTS ANOTHER HOLE IN ONE! IT WAS ANOTHER EXCITING YEAR FOR THE 87-88 SAXON GOLF TEAM. COACH MARTY JOHNSON WAS THE EVER-SUPPORTIVE LEADER OF THE PACK AS THE TEAM ACTIVELY PRESSED THROUGH A SEASON OF TOUGH COMPETITION AND TESTS OF THEIR GOLFING SKILLS. THE TEAM DISPLAYED REAL EF- FORT IN PRACTICES AND MATCHES AT DAD MILLER ' S GOLF COURSE. THE GOLFERS ON THE TEAM WERE ALL VERY HARDWORKING AND FULL OF SPIRIT AS THEY CONTIN- UED THEIR 9-HOLE MATCHES. THE TOP TEAMS OF THE EMPIRE LEAGUE WERE ESPERANZA AND LOS AL, BUT WITH GREAT GUID- ANCE FROM BOTH THE COACH AND THE THREE RETURNING PLAYERS (B. WEISER, R. BASQUEZ, AND A. HARVEY), THE SAXON GOLF TEAM WAS COMPETITIVE THROUGHOUT THE SEASON. 1 The 1987-88 Saxon Golf Team Back Row. L.H.S. WRESTLERS DISPLAY TEAM PRIDE AND DISCIPLINE IN OCTOB ER 1987, LOARA ' S WRESTLERS STARTED PRACTICING FOR WHAT WAS TO BE A SEASON FULL OF ACCOMPLISH- MENTS AS WELL AS A FEW FAILURES. THE ACTUAL SEASON BEGAN IN NOVEMBER. LONG AND ARDUOUS PRACTICES PRO- VIDED THE EXTRA EDGE OVER OPPO- NENTS. AN EXCELLENT GROUP OF SENIORS LED THE TEAM TO VICTORIES. STEVE MA- SHOOF, DALE SIX, MIKE BRANNARD, AND GLEN NEISES DISPLAYED DEDICATION, DESCIPLINE, AND PRIDE. THIS YEAR ' S TEAM HAD SOME TOUGH COMPETITION, WRESTLING AGAINST NO- TABLE RIVALS. LOARA HAS ALWAYS BEEN A POWERHOUSE IN CIF WRESTLING, BUT THIS YEAR THE TEAM ' S SPIRITS SEEMED TO BE DAMPENED DUE TO SEVERAL INJUR- IES, UPSETS, AND INCIDENTS. STEVE MASHOOF, ONE OF THE TEAM ' S LEADERS, SAID, EVEN THOUGH THE RE- CORDS DID NOT REFLECT IT, LOARA WRES- TLERS STILL DISPLAYED THE PRIDE AND THE SPIRIT WHICH WILL CONTINUE.
