FIRST-YEAR COACH JACK MEDLIN FELT FROM THE START THAT THE SAXONS WOULD BE VERY COMPETITIVE. HIS BELIEFS TURNED OUT TO BE TRUE. LED BY SENIOR CAPTAINS MIKE DOIGNY AND DON BRADSHAW, THE SAXONS STILL HAD A CHANCE AT C.I.F. WITH ONLY ONE GAME REMAINING. SENIOR GOALIE BRIAN WEISER, ALONG WITH SENIORS JAMES OVESON, BRENT BORDELON, MIKE DOIGNY, SCOTT KURAYAMA, AND ERIC SMITH MADE UP THE EMPIRE LEAGUE ' S BEST DE- FENSE. JUNIORS ANDY MEDLIN, BRENT NARASAKI, AND RON MA- ZUR ALSO PLAYED A KEY ROLE IN THE TEAM ' S SUCCESS. SOPH- OMORE FORWARD AND LEADING SCORER JUAN FLORES TEAMED UP WITH DON BRADSHAW TO LEAD THE SAXON ATTACK.
