SAXON VARSITY AND FROSH SOPH X-COUNTRY TEAMS RUN TO VICTORY LOARA ' S VARSITY AND FROSH SOPH TEAMS WORKED HARD TO DEVELOP A WELL-RECOG- NIZED CROSS COUNTRY TEAM BY PUTTING FORTH MANY FINE EFFORTS DURING THE 1987- 1988 SEASON. THEIR DAILY TRAINING, WHICH AMOUNTED TO WORKOUTS OF SIX TO EIGHT MILES PER DAY, PAID OFF AS OUR FROSH SOPH TEAM TOOK SECOND PLACE IN THE EMPIRE LEAGUE. THE DEDICATION OF OUR VAR- SITY RUNNERS ALSO NETTED LOARA A FIFTH-PLACE FINISH AGAINST STRONG LEA GUE COM- PETITION. LOARA ' S BEST PERFOR- MANCES WERE AT THE EL DOR- ADO MEET, THE COSTA MESA IN- VITATIONAL, AND THE PACIFIC INVITATIONAL. EVEN THROUGH THE RESULTS OF THE OTHER MEETS AND INVITATIONALS WERE NOT AS SUCCESSFUL, OUR RUNNERS NEVER RELENT- ED, MAKING ALL SAXONS PROUD OF OUR CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS. THIS HAS BEEN A LONG YEAR FOR THE BOYS ' CROSS COUN- TRY TEAMS, AND THEY HAVE LEFT BEHIND MEMORIES OF TRUE SPORTSMANSHIP AND THE PHILOSOPHY OF NEVER GIV- ING IN. Jft 76 cross counrry
