J.V. BASKETBALL SHOWS CLASS IN A TOUGH SEASON • I BMW m n% iiii THE 1987-1988 BOYS ' J.V. BASKETBALL TEAM HAD A ROUGH SEA- SON AS THEY FINISHED WITH A 5-15 RECORD. EVEN THOUGH THE TEAM WAS FEW IN NUMBER, THE PLAYERS KEPT UP THE SAXON TRADITION BY SHOWING DESIRE, COMPETITIVE SPIRIT, AND A GREAT ATTITUDE IN EACH AND EVERY GAME. COACHED BY GEORGE PEABODY THE PLAYERS CONSTANTLY WORKED AND PRACTICED, IMPROVING THEIR SKILLS AS BOTH INDIVIDUALS AND A TEAM. THE JUNIOR VARSITY WAS LED BY JOEY GAUDIE, CARLOS GUZMAN, EL- LICK HSU AND LAM TRAN IN SCORING REBOUNDING, AND DEFENSE. THE TEAM EXHIBITED AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF EFFORT, CONSIS- TENTLY SHOWING IT IN THEIR TEAMWORK. THE PLAYERS PRAC- TICED EVERYDAY AFTER SCHOOL AND ON SATURDAYS. COMMIT- MENT AND INTEGRITY WERE DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF THIS YEAR ' S TEAM. ALL IN ALL, IT WAS A WELL-SPENT YEAR, HOLDING HIGH HOPES FOR NEXT YEAR ' S VARSITY.

FROSH AND SOPH TEAMS SHOOT A WINNING SEASON! mi UNDERTHE COACHING SKILLS OF SAL GLORIOSO, THE BOYS ' FRESHMAN BASKETBALL TEAM ACHIEVED ITS POTENTIAL. THIS YEAR ' S MEMBERS WERE HIGHLY DEDICATED. THEIR HARD WORK PAID OFF WITH A WINNING SEA- SON. CHARLIE GIBSON, ASKIA ALVES, DANNY WASSINK, AND DAVID KANG LED THE TEAM IN SCORING, REBOUNDING, AND DEFENSE. THE FRESHMAN BAS- KETBALL TEAM SHOWED OUT- STANDING DEDICATION IN MAK- ING THIS YEAR ' S TEAM SUC- CESSFUL. UNDER THE DIRECTION OF COACH JERRY HALPIN THE SAX- ON SOPHOMORE BASKETBALL TEAM FINISHED WITH A 13-8 RE- CORD, GOOD ENOUGH FOR THIRD PLACE IN THE RUGGED EMPIRE LEAGUE. CHRIS HOFF- MAN, CZACH HALLOCK, AND GREG RAMSEY WERE THE THREE AMIGOS WHO LED THE TEAM IN ASSISTS, SCORING, AND REBOUNDING. MIKE TREANOR, MIKE ACOSTA, JASON CHADBOURNE, AND WILLIAM KUAI ALSO CONTRIBUTED GREATLY TO THE SAXON CAUSE.
