I I t I l TTTION IN THE TOUGH EMPIRE LEACUE. THE CCLEERS ON THE TEAM WERE ALL VERY HARDWORKING AND ENTHU- SIASTIC, AND THE TEAM HAD A DASH OF THE EXOTIC THIS YEAR, ALSo. IN- CLUDED IN THE TEAM WERE DAVE WALTHER, THE CAPTAIN OF THE TEAM: ANDERS HENNINCSSCN, A FOREIGN EX- HANCE STUDENT FROM SWEDEN: AND TONY EERRENTINC AND RICH HACER- MAN, WHO HCPE TO DEEEAT GOLFING FAMILY MEMBERS IN THE FUTURE. ALL IN ALL, THE TEAM WAS A GREAT SUCCESS, BECAUSE FUN WAS HAD BY ALL INvoLvED. six Rick Puccio proves that golfers have the unique talent of being able to touch their shoulders with their Chins. Concentration is an important part of the game of golf, and Brian Weiser shows that relaxation and a clean stroke are important also. Coach lohnson and the team stride cheerfully toward another awesomely challenging golf game at Dad Miller. The correct fashion sense is a must for every golfer, and Dennis Blacketer's pants certainly meet the requirement. Coach l ohnson knows that the best way to learn is SGVGTI t to observe and practice, so he shows the team how it's done. Dave Walther prepares to participate in the latest trend on the golf course - baseball! Doug Spicer performs under pressure in a com- petition at Dad Miller. The l986-1987 C.-olf Team: ffrontl Tony Ferren- tino, Denny Blacketer, Brian Weiser, Anders I-lenningsson, Doug Spicer, Cbackl Rick Puccio, Dave Walther, Rich Hagerman, Andrew Harvey, and Richard Basguez. The coaching of Marty lohnson, along with a lot of hard work, pays off on the putting green.

F-. V . iw iif,-,f . . . f I ,. ,,,, five THIS YEAR'S VARSITY TEAM HAS KEPT LOARA'S WINNING TRADITION. THE TEAM COMPETED IN MANY PRES- TIGIOUS TOURNAMENTS, TAKING QND IN EDISON, IST IN MAGNOLIA, QND IN EL CAION, 8TH IN FIVE COUN- TIES, AND 3RD IN MID-CAL CHAM- PIONSHIPS. SOME OF THE OUT- STANDING PERFORMANCES WERE TURNED IN BY NICKY KOB, EDDIE AN- DROS, BRIAN MALAVAR, TEVITA AHOLELEI, AND DONNY FLORES. WITH ONE WEEK TO GO IN THE SEA- SON, THE SAXONS HAD A TOTAL RE- CORD OF I7 WINS AND I LOSS. EMPIRE LEAGUE CONSISTS OF THE BEST WRESTLERS IN ORANGE COUN- TY, AND IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE MOST COMPETITIVE LEAGUES. OUT OF EIGHT TEAMS, FOUR OF THEM ARE RANKED IN TOP TEN IN THE COUNTY. UNFORTUNATELY LOARA LOST AGAINST THE SECOND- RANKED TEAM, EL DORADO. BUT THIS DID NOT STOP THE GRAPPLERS AS THEY WENT ON TO DEFEAT ESPER- ANZA, LOS ALAMITOS, KENNEDY, AND KATELLA. CREDIT FOR AN- OTHER SUCCESSFUL SEASON MUST BE GIVEN TO COACHES RICK MAR- TENS, ROB MARTENS, DR. TERRY, AND TOM CASPARI. WRESTLING IS PROBABLY THE HARDEST SPORT IN HIGH SCHOOL. TEVITA AHOLELEI COMMENTED ON THIS BY SAYING, HI THINK WRES- TLING IS THE TOUGHEST SPORT BE- CAUSE YOU HAVE TO CUT WEIGHT AND TRAIN AT THE SAME TIME WITH- OUT SKIPPING A DAY. ALSO, IT'S ONE ON ONE, SO YOU HAVE TO TRY HARD. ALTHOUGH WRESTLING MAY SEEM LIKE ALL WORK, WORK, WORK, IT HAS A GOOD SIDE TO IT. SAID DONNY FLORES, WRESTLING HAS HELPED ME LEARN THE REAL MEANING OF FRIENDSHIP. v. wresIImqfB5
